First night out with the Code....
« on: March 10, 2008, 02:32:19 PM »
I had this ball punched up last Friday but wasn't able to use it until earlier tonight in league. It was drilled very close to 4 x4 with the pin just above the ring cg out and a small weight hole just below my VAL to get the side weight back to 1/2 oz.

This ball is unbelievably smooth off the break point and was very controllable. I used it on a fresh house shot playing 17 out to 7 and had no problem getting it back to the pocket. I had to only move my feet and my mark 3 or 4 boards left all night. This ball was also forgivable when pitched out a bit to far or tugged. I only had two 10 pins all night so that was very good.

I shot 247 279 246 = 772

I am looking forward to having this ball in my bag and using it some more. I wanted to say thanks to Eric at AMF/Global for getting me the specs that I had requested when I ordered the ball.

I highly recommend this new release from AMF. Kudos to the guys in San Antonio!!

Steve, the knee has actually been doing really well.....of course no more sports, other than bowling, for me anymore. How are things in Marble Falls? Did I hear right about the center getting bought out?

From reading all of the good results people are having with AMF balls plus my current success with the Heist, AMF may be making the best balls out there right now. They seem to be very versatile and adaptable to most any style.

I bet you sell it by 5 weeks, you always shoot huge scores the first set with a new ball. You are funny like that i get a kick out of you because you have already sold off the complete and buzzbomb.

Nothing like that new ball feeling is there???? I know i am guilty of the same thing but you know someone has too bust your balls over it

Barry,

Thanks for the kudos and good shooting to T Brockette as well..

I actually like to try alot of stuff like you but the only difference between us is I sell some of my new stuff before drilling up more. Thats something I promised the "boss" I would do.. LOL..

One of these days I will find a ball that I keep for awhile, but until then, I hope I shoot 770+ the 1st night out with all the new balls I just punch up!! LOL..

PS: I fully expect Gary (gsback) to post something here about the same subject. He is always busting my chops about buying and selling all the time.. I am not saying this method is for everyone, thats just how I do things.. I also keep my pro shop guy happy!! LOL..

Brick, it is a very versitle ball, I could not use mine last night, it was just too strong, ended up throwing the Break Pearl. If you get one you'll love it, it will be a good combo with your Heist. The Heist is more rolly arcy, where the Code is more angular at the break.

Yeah Tracy, got bought out buy the Isenbergs, or Jamie Brooks. It has taken them 6 months to realize what works in Planto does not work in the sleepy little town of Marble Falls, they seem to have things on the right track now, if they could only hire people to work that cared about bowlers instead of 17-19 kids to work that have no work ethics. But then again you always get what you pay for.

Steve, do you mean the Black Pearl isn't as strong as the Code? I had a Black Pearl and didn't like it. In fact I had 4 L/LM balls and didn't like any of them as they just don't work for me in 14# like other companies balls do. The cores in L/LM balls are so light weight due to the solid reisn being so heavy and no filler whereas balls from other companies have heavier cores and with my slower speed and low revs along with not much hand, L/LM balls simply did not perform for me.

That'd be a Break Pearl, not a Black Pearl. And yes, the Code is stronger than the Break Pearl, by maybe three-four boards in my book depending on drilling and surface prep.

What lane conditions are the Code designed for?

Heavier mediums. It's a quick-revving solid/pearl combo with a nice move downlane...it picks up earlier and stronger in the midlane than the Break Pearl, but is not as strong OOB (or even with the polish lightly knocked off) as the solid Break.
