Getting my first AMF ball tonight,- (update)
« on: November 08, 2007, 07:01:35 AM »
and I can't wait! It's gonna be the Orbit Extreme Sky Blue. I'm not even sure how i'm drilling it up, but I just can't wait to throw it! I always love trying new companys I haven't thrown before and this is the time. I'll post pics later tonight, if i'm still awake by the time I get back from the drillers. Lol.

Is there anything certain I can expect out of AMF? I'm a loyal Track fan. I love their equipment.. Just now I needed this ball from AMF. Thanks!

the ball is a good choice i have one as well, drilled 5 1/4 by 5. for me it works great on medium-dry conditions. it doesn't over react when it hits dry boards down the lane. what you can expect from AMF is great bang for the buck

Brian,

Make sure you have dry boards somewhere...this ball is not a big fan of oil, great ball for crisp backend or drier heads...very predictable, controlable reaction!

Enjoy!

Excellent ball choice.

You can expect the ball to behave however you drill it up.

Drill it to go long and it will.  Drill it to roll early and it will.

I have mine (original Xtreme) drilled label (3 3/8) and it is a great ball - can't handle a lot of oil, but very smooth ball.  I haven't played with the cover, but Superflex is very adjustable.

Well, i'm back the next day here lol..
Here's a pic of the ball to start off:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c288/TheOne9110/100_0972.jpg

Drilled: 4 1/2" x 2 with an inch wide extra hole. OOB Surface.

The lanes really did suck last night. They were a very used up house shot with full carrydown. There was no oil in the heads what so ever. I started off playing the track area.. Bad idea. The ball set up very fast, but DIDN'T jump off the spot. It made a rather slow arc getting to the pocket, but it went through the nose. I moved more left to try and find some oil.. Still can't find it. The ball did pretty much the same thing. NO push. I kept doing the same thing for a while (moving left, throwing more right) and nothing worked. So I finally decided, let's whip n' rip it. Lol. Hey it did work! I was throwing it from about 25 to 5-7ish, and it came back very nicely. It did work until I ripped skin off.. My ring finger? Yeah, that felt really good. Hopefully I can bowl tomorrow in league with at least a little bit of oil??

Thanks to Beans for drilling this ball! (Ballreviews name "BeansProShop")

More reporting coming tomorrow!
The ball does hit quite hard, I had a few messengers, and nice trips. So that's a good thing too

New UPDATE! This ball I think is going to get better and better everytime I throw it. Today in league, I shot a 667! Great series for me. It should bring my average back to 200

There was GOOD head oil today at league! Finally. This is what this ball needs with this layout. I LOVE this ball. I had a few flat ten pins, maybe 6? Made 5 out of 6 of them, which is usually a good sign for me lol. The ball cleared the heads perfect, reved up fast downlane, and had a nice little "pop" on the backend. Definitely a BIG difference from when I used it Thursday! The ball is perfect right now. I'm just hoping it will be good for what I actually need it for (Flying backends!). I can't wait to use this ball again!

Thanks AMF, and thanks Beans!
