300 with the Clutch!
« on: October 01, 2009, 03:50:23 PM »
Eric Thomas and the boys over at AMF/Global should be proud of this egg!!

Just shot Three Bills tonight only games 4-5-6 ever on my Clutch, sandwiched between a 235 and 222 in league tonight.  And like many of the reviews before, I would put this ball right up their with the Bounty Hunter or a Virtual Gravity on longer type patterns such as the PBA Shark when this ball is properly drilled based on the bowlers PAP and left at the box finish or even taken to a duller grit if necessary.

And this ball is fantastic when left at the box finish with a coat of Ebonite factory finish polish over the top, the ball is very versatile and responds very well to different hand position changes.  I will be testing the ball early next week on the PBA experience versions of the Scorpion and Viper.  And since I really liked the old Dynothane Vendetta Black Solid on the PBA Patterns, even had a 299 with it on the Viper, I''m pretty sure the Clutch will like the PBA patterns.  My current Clutch has polish on top of the box finish and I plan on drilling up another one keeping it dull at various grits for longer patterns.

Too bad the rest of the bowlers in my area don''t know how good this ball is, they are all stuck on Big B, and many proshops still push Big B to customers just because they were once manufactured in the area.  Again great stuff from AMF!

That is sweet...I have liked what I've seen so far from this ball.  How did you drill yours?

Good bowling!
MY Clutch is not working for me...I hardly see any track flare (looking @ oil on the ball)
Pin's up between middle and ring, MB right next to thumb. MY PAP from what I know is 5over and a tad up (I asked the pin to be drilled 4" away from PAP). I gotta bring it back to the pro shop AGAIN! (1st time same problem and we drilled the x-hole deeper) sigh...

My PAP is 4 7/8  over 1/4 up and a pin over the bridge cpmes out at 5 1/4 -5 1/2 inches depending on height above fingers. I would have your pro shop remeasure the layout

ranAAchan,

What exactly were you looking for out of your Clutch????  Please don't tell me you bought an AMF Clutch just because it was getting good reviews and then you were expecting the ball to go long and snap hard based on how your driller punched it up.  And why is your Clutch not working for you, maybe your using it on the wrong conditions for the drilling or it needs some surface adjustments based on the your rev rate, speed, and axis tilt.
