How do you like your Mamba?
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:49:03 PM »
Purchased one. Have had it little over a month now and have tried it at a multitude of houses and results haven't really been that great. I don't remember exactly the drilling but I do know it was a medium type drill as I didn't want to drill it strong and have it puke on me and didn't want it really weak and overlap with other stuff I have.

Has anyone tried surface changes or anything? Just looking to see if I'm alone on this one...

What type of reaction were you expecting? From the video reviews I have seen (taken with a grain of salt, to some extent), this ball has a very mild reaction. It's definitely not a piece for playing coast-to-coast, nor is it a skid/snap piece. Those looking for a strong movement anywhere on the lane are best advised to look elsewhere.

But, how does the jersey look?

I knew it was a rolly piece, but I don't even seem to get a heavy roll out of it...

I love the motion but can't stand the look of it going down the lane.

Betcha dollars to doughnuts you're not using on enough oil.
It's a strong cover with a rough finish, on a medium-high RG core with good differential.
You need good head oil or higher ball speed/rev rate ratio.

When seeing the video of this ball it looks sorta like the way the power bone xs looked like going down the lane.

I used it at a house that floods the middle of the lane and it just sailed out the window all day long. But if I caught any dry it would roll out.

How is yours drilled?

Also, have you changed the surface at all?

I don't know how it's drilled, as I'm not that good with drillings. I do know I asked for it to conserve energy because most balls tend to roll earlier than intended for me. I have not tried any surface changes. That's why I asked if anyone else had to see if I had some idea of what to change to.

Well, surface is the first thing you want to take a look at. I think it's 1500 out of the box. I would try hitting it with a 4000 pad, or a T pad if your pro shop does the NEAT system, and see what happens.

Also, if you post a pic of the layout, and your PAP, we can at least guess what the drilling is, or be close.

Pin directly above ring finger (left handed) and cg looks to be angled about 20-30 degrees from center. My pap is 4.5 over 3/8th up.
