i have bowled a little bit and i am interested in getting my own ball now.  i would like a ball that i can throw a slight hook with.  can any one give me some suggestions on weather or not the AMF Venom is right for me, or others to look at?

The AMF Orbit or better yet, the Orbit Extreme, would be a good starter ball for you!

Orbit Xtreme is a great ball, beginner or not!

If you are looking for a slight hook, this is a great ball!  Very versatile coverstock and a great core.  Unless you are bowling on medium to heavy oil, this ball should work nicely for you - you may be able to alter the cover to handle more oil.

Another perfect starting ball is the Power Groove from Brunswick. They're cheap price wise, and with a pro-active version, you could build a starter arsenal for well under $250..........
