I am thinking of picking one of these bad boys up and was wondering how everyone is liking this ball? Anyone changed the cover?
I know its pretty new, but there are zero reviews in the review section so I thought I would ask here..

I have thrown mine only during league practice and just not enough oil to use this ball at the moment. I have drilled this pin low with pin on grip line with the CG kicked to the track side. I did surface the ball to 4000 with step 3 storm compound with bean sauce over the top. During practice using my link drilled pin up with pin on grip line with mb in track standing 7 left of middle throwing 13-10 and hitting the pocket. Switching to the Mega I was 12 left of middle, throwing 18-5 and back to the pocket. The Mega rolled up about 2 foot earlier with a strong continuous arc motion. I did like the roll on the ball, just not enough oil around here in SA to use this for now. I will bring this ball with me to San Marcos and test it out here on Thursday.

correct me if I am wrong please, but I thought this ball was a "symmetrical" ball.. It shouldn't have a mb, unless you drew your own.. thankss
-
To slashrr69- There is no mention in the prior post of the Mega Friction having a MB. The post states about a "Link" which does have a MB. Just thought I'd point that out. The Mega Friction is a symmetrical ball.
-
My friend is going to practice with this on the Shark Pattern on Saturday at box finish. We'll see how it works...

i plan on throwing mine friday
--------------------
hold my hammer, while i NAIL your girlfriend.
-
Mine will be here tomorrow, and seriously, anyone with any hand at all, and not
on oilier shots will be insane to use this ball. I am drilling it for heavy tournament and sport, and days when encounter bad carrydown. I would wait for the ball to be out for a few weeks befor you see some serious reviews. It always seems people jump the gun for information that is not out there yet, and also people asking for comparisons of balls not even released yet. I'm sure there will be reviews in 2-3 weeks. But in defense of all, I want to know how this would stack up against say a NVD, Virtual Shift, Hot Sauce, etc !
--------------------
Thirtyclean (Well maybe 29, or 28, most of
the times !)
-
Thirty, I have thrown all of the balls except the hot sauce. The NVD is not even close to what the Virtual and Mega can do. The mega gives me a little more room for error then the virtual, carry is relatively equal. The virtual didn't shine up as much as the Mega though, if that makes sense. The mega friction shines up pretty quick at 1000, but thats to be expected of an dull oiler. You can't wrong with the Mega or Virtual, both are excellent balls. I give the nod in strength to the Mega, but it reacts very violent off friction, sometimes too violent. For example: On the same shot, if I let up (speed wise) on the virtual it still stays and finishes high flush. On the other side with the Mega, if I let up on it, its either brooklyn, or straight through the nose.
-
Thanks tizzle,
I had the Virtual and sold it, did not match up with my game. Have the NVD, and it handles any oil around here. I did not have problems with polishing the Virtual, so that was not an issue. The Mega will be in the bag, in case, when nothing else is cutting the mustard on heavier THS's and sports. In one house in our area, they have a history of the Pheonix not being maintained well and stripping is not done. The Mega will probably be used on this also. This sounds like a winner already. My Code has a unique motion and niche in my arsenal, and I love that core. Thanks for the info, I am sure more will come out on this ball as time goes on, so we can patiently await more reviews.

just a heads up on the Mega, I have only seen one ball that has hooked as much as the Mega, it was at 320 with a heavy particle load. I attempted to throw mine last night in practice it was not a good match even between 3rd-4th arrows. It creats a ton of friction in the mids and was left of the head pin at 45 feet, at box finish. The ball will eat up a heavy long pattern at box, for those who don't have a lot of hand it will make them think they have found the fountain of youth and have been reincarnated as Max-Bob revs, the label should have read find wider lanes not "caution this ball hooks". To be used on an every night basis I would think 4000 finish or maybe a dose of liquid teflon might be necessary to get it down lane. It will hook a bunch, plain and simple !!

I just drilled mine up today. This ball flat out HOOKS!!! I drilled this one pin under the ring and kicked the CG out. I left this ball out of the box and could not keep it on the lane on a THS. It probably hooks about 3-4 boards more for me than my Bounty. I am bowling on a tighter shot this weekend and I will update.

never threw an exopy ball, frankly I do not see how it could be. The Mega has teeth, just a "pure nasty hooking ball". Maybe they should have called it Nasty Jr.

I have a Project X, but I haven't drilled it yet. Don't think I'll see enough oil to ever use it.
Is there any truth to the rumor that the MF has a particle load?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Project X?
-
The project X was an overseas(asain market) release from AMF, debuted right at the same time the Columbia epx came out...same cover but with an amf core in it.

I have spoken to a reliable source who has thrown both the Epox and the Mega, not a fair comparison, the mega is much stronger, like I said earlier it has teeth !!!

Wow .. and that thing hooks.. if you drilled it strong and didn't have a flood the ball gets zero length..mine at 6 inch pin to PAP is still a beast..
Is the MF a little better with getting through the heads. I imagine it has to have less flare than the AMB. Warning.. if this ball is anything close to the AMB you need oil... and alot of it.. Don't think this is going to be like a cell.. Some say they need alot of oil for the cell. If this thing is anything like the AMB it is a Cell x 3.

i drilled mine last night 5 x 5 placing the pin above and a little right of ring finger with pin stacked under ring finger no balance hole. I tried it for two ball on my league practice thru middle where the oil is the heaviest. We have a med to med heavy ths but it is extreme wet dry it is dense in middle and toast outside of 8. I tried throwing it at about 20 and it puked at the dots before the arrows didnt even try to get into a roll. Even with the pin being up it didnt even try to get any length. It tried to hook as soon as it hit lane this ball needs oil and alot of it. I bought it for a flood ball for tourneys and got just that i am going out of state so i might find more oil when i practice this weekend i will update when i see what this ball can do on the given shot it is designed for. I left it in oob finish.

I want my share of the bounty but I cant find enough oil for this monster, i dont want to polish it cause it rolls so good now damn I hate dilemmas.

this thing hooks more than the EPX? if i read correctly! wow....i had that one, still do and it only worked when everything in my bag DIDNT hook...

Christ the ball has only been out 10 days, Brit will most likely be the first to post one if he has had time to do a vid. Used mine last night for a game, standing 40 to 18 out to the 8 at 42 ft, back to the hole, ball is just a monster, covers boards like Pacman eating dots !!!!!

Steve,
Not asking for an indepth vid, just something with 3 shots or so is all. Very interested in seeing what this ball will do. We will probably have something after tomorrow, on the shark pattern at Box finish...

Well i'm not a staffer and not sellin these on ebay.. and this ball is the real deal. Only thing i've ever seen close is the reaction of a NIB black chaos when it was released back in the day. Not saying this is the best ball ever, just saying, the only thing the buyers need to "beware" of is the warning label on the ball.

I WISH i was a staffer! Threw it last night for about 8 frames. To much ball for our normal league shot which is normally med-heavy. The few times i did throw it way out into the dry it didn't have enough left in the tank to recover, since it was trying to hook when i put it down. Left two 8 pins in a row so it was pretty much DOA and deflected. I pretty much knew i was going to have to up the surface, but had to throw it OOB lol. Im going to take it from OOB up to 3000 grit to get it to push a little more down lane and turn the corner harder, and see what that gets me. Reports to follow next saturday. This ball DOES and WILL hook
layout: pin over ring, cg stacked.

update...... I got the chance to throw my MF on a heavy house shot 42 ft with very dirty backends with carrydown from open bowling. The ball was so powerful that it was hook settting. First game I threw with it was 300 continued to throw it next game shot 255 was praticing with my little nieces so i only bowled two games. ball needs much more oil but at least got to throw it. Has very strong midlane grip and hits like no other can wait to find more oil for this beast to come alive.
