Mega-Friction vs. Bounty Hunter
« on: July 15, 2009, 01:03:46 AM »
I am in the market for a heavy oil ball. The Mega-Friction has topped a lot of lists as one of the better ones for the money. How does it compare to the new 900 Global Bounty Hunter. I was thinking of taking the Bounty Hunter down to 2000 Abralon as well, instead of leaving it in the OOB 4000. Anyone have any comparisons?

I expect these pieces to be ones that sit in my office most of the time, just coming out for regionals, tournaments, nationals, etc. So not looking for something to throw on THS shots, but heavier volume, longer tournament shots.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Haven't seen a comparison here Jorge, but I saw one in the Lane #1 section.  Surprised the guy didn't post it here, in the AMF section.  Well, actually, no I'm not.....  Mega Friction is supposed to be a good ball though.

Have drilled up both and really depends on what you are looking for..

At 1000 Abralon and seriously strong the Mega Friction will roll much earlier and have a more arc look to it. Will handle serious amounts of oil and with the surface will handle just a touch more than the Bounty Hunter.

The Bounty Hunter is at 4000 Abralon and while it will read early, it will still have plenty of back end to it so more of a stronger/angular move off the breakpoint.  Will handle quite a bit of oil also but will give you a longer more angular look than the Mega Friction.

Both surfaces are easily adjustable so that is a plus for both....

Can't really go wrong with either...just depends if you like arc or more angular..

Hope this helps!

Strength wise these two balls if drilled similar, although hard since the Bounty hunter is asy. and the Mega is not they would be very close, probably Mega friction by a hair because it is very strong particle solid and BH is just very strong hybrid.

I would look at these two balls at which shape do you want? Mega friction is going to be smoother throughout the lane, while the BH is going to be longer and sharper off the spot. Both will handle gobs of oil. Just choose the reaction shape you want and go from there. You will most likely be extremely happy with whichever you choose.

i aggree with the balls are close now both balls drilled the same you will see more length and more angular backend reaction with the bounty hunter and of course the mega friction is alot smoother with an earlier reaction. i personaly am a huge fan of the mega friction i belive its the most controllable ball and the hitting power is strong but im gonna have to go with the bounty hunter being stonger and you will not belive the drive through the pins this ball has omg! so for anyone looking for a little more length and a little more angular back end and a little more overall hook comparied to the mega friction get the bount hunter. and plus atleast if you shoot a 300 with the BH you get paid $$$$ and its been bumped up to $50000 why not when they are that close of balls might as well go with the money
