NEED AN OLD BALL NIB?
« on: January 29, 2010, 04:54:39 AM »
I HAVE JUST RECENTLY CAME BACK TO BOWLING FROM A LONG TIME OFF...I HAVE BOUGHT A COUPLE NEW BALLS (FURY,COPPERHEAD,C-SYSTEM 3.5), AND PRETTY HAPPY WITH THEM. BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS A WEBSITE OR A PROSHOP THAT WILL HAVE OLD BALLS THAT ARE STILL NIB. I GOT THE AMF NITEHAWK REVENGE WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED. AND LET ME TELL YA, IT WAS A BEAST. I WAS 14 YEARS AT THE TIME, AND IN 2 YEARS I HAD 2 300'S AND COUNTLESS 280-290 GAMES. ALONG WITH AN 800. I NOW USE IT FOR MY SPARE BALL...TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET IT TO WORK, (WITH NO LUCK). WOULD REALLY LIKE TO FIND ONE. THANKS

Drrev2000...WOW, I AM FAIRLEY NEW TO THIS SITE, AND I CAN SEE WHY I DEBATED ON EVEN REGESTERING. I DIDNT CAPS LOCK MY MOTTO'S, SO THAT GUYS LIKE YOU & JBUZZ31 WOULD HAVE SOMETHING OF MINE TO READ THAT ISN'T IN "ALL CAPS". SORRY FOR THE MISSPELLING OF THE BALL. THE "NIGHTHAWK REVENGE", MAY HAVE BEEN AN OK BALL FOR YOU AND MANY OTHERS, BUT FOR ME IT WAS THE BEST BALL I HAVE EVER OWNED. LIKE MY ORIGINAL POST, I DID ALOT OF GREAT THINGS WITH IT AND JUST WOULD LIKE TO TRY AND GET MY HANDS ON A NEW ONE AGIAN. THANKS.

Although CAPS LOCK is considered "screaming" on the internet, the worst thing about it is that it makes it very hard to read.  All small letters would look better, if you're really too lazy to type properly.

Maybe all your Revenge needs is a good dose of TLC.  A thorough resurface and de-oiling might bring it back to 90% of what it once was.  I can't find a site (that I trust) that has good info on older balls, but I think the Nighthawks all had Superflex as a base cover - one of the best and most durable covers ever.

My go to ball on a house shot is still an original Nighthawk M2.  I shot my first honor score with the ball when I still threw 16#.  When I had to switch to 15#, I had to scramble to find them since they were already discontinued.  I bought 2 used ones, and eventually found 2 new ones as well.  I eventually drilled one of the new ones with a different drill pattern, but it only has two games on it because I switched my spans and pitches right after drilling.  Anyway, I now have three used (the one I use all the time, the one with 2 games and the other with 50-100) and a NIB waiting for the first to "die".  I bought them all since all/most balls die to some extent.  I have over 2000 games on my main one (labels still barely visible) and it's still going strong.

Anyway, take the ball to a good pro shop and let them do a full resurface and remove the oil and see how the ball acts for you.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
