My Ball cracked too
« on: July 03, 2006, 03:45:17 PM »
I recently noticed a crack similar on my Titan,my go to ball, took it to the pro shop they said it was too big to plug and fix.
so I contacted Eric at AMF I have heard so many good things about AMF on standing behind their balls, seems customers do come first with AMF,waiting to hear from him will keep yous updated.

my proshop guy said i would be too big not to have it plugged without it be really noticable and ball would roll in my track area and to contact AMF,its actually getting bigger.

I paid 149 for it about 10 monthes ago and now I'm between a rock and a hard spot and I usually buy 2 AMF bals a year, ohh well just my luck.

IMO thats not going to be in your track area and it seems like he just doesn't want to do it, it will be noticeable but much cheaper to just drill it out and plug it man, thats not really major and i be its just in the coverstock and shouldn't be a problem.

#1. If the ball has not been plugged, and since it is only 10 months since you drilled it, return it to the place of purchace. The 1 year warranty goes threw the place you bought it. They will send it back to their distributor and credit the shop. OR...call the distributor and work it out with them, the ball companies should be your last resort.
#2. The crack shouldn't be affecting the ball roll. Drilling that crack out and plugging it SHOULD not do anything negative to the ball, or the reaction. That tiny amount of plug in your track wouldn't do anything to change the look of the ball going down the lane. It will continue to spread unless you drill it out.

From the looks of it, it SHOULDN'T be any trouble to plug and fix, but it would be noticeable.

Sounds like the shop just doesn't want to mess with it, but his initial advice is good. If it is only 10 months old, it is most likely still covered by a warranty. Contact the shop where it was purchased and see if they will honor the warranty. If not, then a.m.f. might have to take care of it.  I have had great luck when dealing with them in the past, but haven't done so recently.

wow,
sorry to see it happen to you Tony,I can only say unless it can be plugged without being so noticable and by the pic its looks like its bad, maybe contact Eric or Paul at AMF,I hear they are above the rest when it comes to taking care of customers...I know some people track close to the finger and thumb.

good luck,

KC

thanks for the support guys but AMF isnt going to replace it,even though its getting worse, told me to take it back to pro shop, but pro shop says no,so now I might decide to try another company after all these years,I got a near new radar for sale now?and a Terminal Velocity...everyone else on here got theres replaced, but me??a guy who bought it NIB....hell with it.

I poured lots of dollars in my equipment and they say its a hair line spider crack,a piece fell out of it earlier,I dont trade all the time, buy usually buy stuff new.

sorry just a little disgusted right now.

well I bought it from a user on ebay NIB 1st not a blem and this guy drilled it,so he wont take the heat,he hates when people bring NIB balls into his shop but he was paid 40 to drill it,seems he should help take the heat.

and for plugging track runs really close to my fingers and thumb hole and I dont mean to be picky put I cant stand to throw plugged stuff, dont know why but I am feeling sick to my stomach right now,
gotta run.

i dont understand the fuss about plugged stuff. If i were you, i'd either post some negative feedback on ebay, or put the guy's name and user id on here to warn people of the problems you had. It is his responsibility to take the ball back and replace it with somthing of equal or lesser value.

IMO, it appears that people are just trying to get a freebie from AMF they see one person get a free replacement so now everyone jumps on the bandwagon

would you not like to get a replacement if half your ball was gone??? have you seen my post?  i didn't have a little problem, half my freaking ball was gone!
do me a favor, whenever your ball cracks let me know if you try to get it replaced. and let me laugh and say i told you so

and T-Jack, your pissed i can see why.  but i don't see whats wrong with throwing plugged stuff? just change the drilling outright and it won't be in the track.

or sell it to me cheap as well as the rest of your stuff

totally agree with ya smash8-10split, some of the problems you read on hear sound like the proshops fault and not amf its self, there is no real reaon for a ball to crack unless its from something down the back of a lane or the driller has a blunt drill or messed up.
