New Bull Whip
« on: June 16, 2012, 07:34:39 PM »
Drilled the new Bull Whip for myself but have not gotten to throw it yet.  Just wanted to get a picture up of it.  I will update this with a review once I get my other new AMF/900 Global weapons in.

First off, I love retro equipment.  Not to go off on a tangent, but for years I have collected   older pieces.  I love the roll, the predictability and smoothness that the balls back then offered.  If your like me, then this is the ball for you!  The Bull Whip is exactly what is was but better.  Like the ball was given an injection of HGH.  Super clean, super predictable and yep, hits like a truck.  This is a ball that allows me to play in, out and everywhere in between. I have mine laid out pin over bridge, with cg swung out 1/2 from my centerline.  This keeps the ball from flaring too much and gives me more roll and control on the back part of the lane.  This would be a great ball for someone who is looking for that “go to” ball when the lanes get tricky and start to deteriorate.

I would totally agree.  I keep laughing because for me at least I love this Bull Whip more than any other in the new line from AMF and 900 Global.  I just have had a great look with it.  The other stuff is good too but I think this ball would surprise a lot of people.

Im really interested in seeing this ball and wouldn't mind trying it out. It sure beats remaking the heat over and over and overt......

Hey hey hey, the Heat core is awesome!

Personally, I think the weight block looks like the old Track FreakAZoid core in shape. Numbers are different, but that's what it reminds me of.

It WAS good. It has been remade, I think in 5 different reincarnations.

I know your going to say storm has done it with the thunder road core, but atleast they keep it fresh.

Besides the bullwhip is now using a BASF formulated cover right, not wtv ebonite used back in the 90s. Excitement still abound!

Hey, recycling cores is the way of the world. V2, Apex, Break, lightbulb, etc etc etc. If it works, use it!

For me, the Heat core works. When I can, I will be buying my first Radical ball, the Torrid. If you know it works for you, use it.

I agree Doom, its better to know what works even if its old, rather than constantly searching.

My mini review: Used on the Kegel WTB Stockholm 34' pattern.

Didn't bowl well but good enough to beat the 3 bowlers on my pair. I believe I used the wrong breakpoint but played the lane as dictated. Ball squirted past the breakpoint if I didnt stay behind it. Not a good matchup for me, should have used the Cobra which I will use on the 33' Sydney pattern next.

Now on a THS it's a totally different beast. Ten back, messengers and light hits galore. Definitely will be used in my fall league. Used it again today at the Demo Supershow @Farmingdale Lanes, NY alongside the other great 900/AMF pieces. I was not disappointed. Money will be well spent in the next few weeks..lol (ie; Freight Train, Look, Wisdom).

@Impending Doom, I tried the Cobra on THS and for me its truly a benchmark ball. So smooth. I will update after league this week.

Last note, I would like to thank Eric Thomas for a great showing at the demo day. Big Ups to 900/AMF....Keith

Both of those balls look just like their original cousins!

I loved the Bull Whip! That's what I shot my third highest set ever, with.
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!
