AMF AMMO
« on: July 18, 2011, 10:40:07 AM »
I took a bunch of high school kids to bowling today as a treat for completing my summer school course. The only thing I brought was my shoes because I didn't want to wear alley shoes.  I found a ball on the rack and it was an AMF AMMO, pretty cool looking with it's olive green color.  No grips but my thumb fit perfectly and the span was pretty close, so I used it and this ball had a magnet to the pocket!  Threw it up the second arrow and it just went, even if I threw it a board or 2 left or right, it just held or came back right to the pocket.  I did a search on this ball and I couldn't find anything so I figured I'd just ask if anyone knows anything about it.  Was this a good ball when it was out?  I've never heard of the AMF AMMO.

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

It sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't find it anywhere.
It's not even on the list of USBC approved balls, which lists virtually every ball ever made that submitted to the ABC or the USBC for approval.

There was a black Ammo and a green pearl Ammo.   They were both urethane and made by AMF.   Pete Weber used them on TV a few times when they came out.

The black and green balls Pete used were AMF  Bobcats. The Ammo was grey and designed for lighter oil. It wasn't a bad ball but it was nothing special  I did shoot  290 with mine back when  it was new
