help with ball choice -- mega?
« on: February 25, 2009, 11:25:34 PM »
heres my problem, my sauce does not turn on the back end, my one pearl  either hooks too much at the back end or i overthrow it through the break point and it comes up light.  i am looking at the mega friction -- the magic -- or the virtual gravity.  i like to play more down and in, which would be the better fit?

I have the Virtual and Mega and for me the Mega outhooks the Virtual by 3 or 4 boards easily. I have not thrown a Magic but my friend has one and from what I can see, the Mega will outhook it as well.

If you want a ball that hooks in oil, IMO you will not find a better choice than the Mega.

if your looking for a ball to go down and in you need a ball with length and a smooth backend. if you are looking for a ball for heavy oil to play down and in go with the virtual gravity, however if it is for a normal house shot go with the emerald vibe or hammer razyr those get the length you need and the smooth backend if you are playing the 5 to 3 board

Start with something light, I like to start with a 2000 abralon pad.
Stick your left thumb in the ball, sit the ball on a table, and wipe the ball all around lightly in a swirling motion. Wipe clean with a damp towel. I'd try that a couple times first, it doesn't take much to change the way a ball reads the lane.  Cheaper than buying a new ball.  jime

I've owned all three balls.. And I will tell u that all of them hook but the mega and virtual will require more maintenance then the magic they shine up and absorb oil at such a high rate u will constantly have to bleed the cover then hit it with abralon pads. I was averaging 30 games on the virtual between hot water baths and surface prep. The magic is at over 50 games and still hooks like it was brand new and has not had to prepped at all besides cleaning after every set

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag...some magic, some hot sauce, and a saw.. how can I loose?

the balls you have are good balls,..a little fine tuning will bring them alive,..knock a little sheen off The One and it too will read the pattern better... work with your ball surfaces first.  jime
