Title: Possibly getting a Heist....
Post by: Radelon on December 09, 2007, 07:35:15 AM
Right now I bowl at a house with new Brunswick Pro Lane that uses SP-40 oil on a 39-foot THS.  I have a pin next to ring 15# No Mercy that I start with and a 15# Fury Pearl pin under ring that I finish with.  I'm averaging 208 with a potential of even higher as I'm having carry issues.

Per my ball driller he told me to do some research comparing the balls I like and the balls I don't.  My most consistent ball from the past that I had the most high scores with was an Ebonite Predator.  The Heist matches up RG and Diff wise pretty close to the Predator.

I watched the video on VBR and that ball looked very weak, but the video and Buddies the ball looks great.

Do you guys think the Heist would fit in my arsenal up with the NM and the FP but as more control ball?  What are your thoughts?

Don't confuse a even arc/smooth backend with weak...this ball is FAR from weak...veary early revving and smooth ball

Remeber Tim (the guy who is throwing the Hei$t in Buddies video) has a very high rev rate...so yes his will turn harder and cover more boards, but if you do not bowl like that then don't expect those results...

But to answer your question yes the Hei$t would fit there very well!  A little less overall hook and a smoother reaction is what you should see compared to those two.

with the box finish, the heist was a little angular to me. i made a surface adjustment to 4000 abralon and this ball turned into a control ball for me. it all depends on your rev rate and speed. for some bowlers, it will react smooth off the spot and for others it will turn the corner like crazy. i think it will fit in your arsenal. all in all, the heist is a great ball and i think you will not be disappointed with it.

Thanks for the quick replies....the only other ball I'm thinking about is the Momentum

I throw around 17 mph and I was told I have a rev rate that matches perfect with my speed.

some people i know went around the 5 to 5 1/2 inches pin to pap area. one of mine is drilled 5x4 (pin over bridge) and the other 4 1/2 x 4 (pin under ring). since you want it more of a control ball, you can try something between 5 and 5 1/2 inches pin to pap. hope this helps.

Should I get it in 14lbs or stick with 15lbs.... would 14 give better carry or would it be best to stick with 15lbs.

14 would possibly hurt your carry, stay with 15.
