edit--- which one is it?  yellow, black, blue, purple?  They hooked from most to least in order (I think) Yellow, Purple, Blue, Black.  If it is the yellow or purple, I would suggest you clean it up, and try it out.  If for no other reason, than to educate yourself on what bowling was before resin balls came along.  If it is the black or blue, those would make pretty good dry lane balls these days.

HAHA... It used to be common for people to get their names, or in this case, corny nickname above the fingers.  I haven't seen anyone do that in years though.  The first fingertip ball I ever had was a Black Angle.  It was basicly a medium-dry ball back then.  Angles are just pancake weightblock balls, with a hooking Urethane cover.  The black angle would make an excellent dry lane ball in my opinion.  I personally have a urethane Hammer Nail now, which is pretty close to the black Angle, that is great for really burnt lanes.

i use my desert heat for dry lanes and i cut down my revs to make it push down the lane before hooking. i'll bring it to the local bowling ally where they have old wood lanes, prolly where my dad used to use it bowling lol.

The Black Angle-one of the true revolutionary bowling balls as it was the first urethane ball on the market.

Don't forget the other angles that came out:
  Grey Angle for dry lanes
  Angle LD for short oil
Ultra Angle, I believe AMF's first attempt at 2-piece construction. Famous for flaring, but no one knew what this was so the ball did not catch on.

I think the purple Angle actually was the biggest hooking one of the bunch as it came out later in the 80's at about the same time as the Black U-Dot, Blue Hammer, and Thunderbolt.

AMF had some good success during the urethane era with the Black Angle, Black Cobra, and Sumo.

Yeah, the Black Angle is pretty big and deserves a huge spot in the bowling ball HOF.

My driller was telling me about that ball when it came out (I was pretty young then) they had a demo here right away.  There was also a tournament going on in town with the pros or something pretty big.  The winner of the tournament was using the Angle.  Needless to say, he sold a ton of them in the following weeks.
