Why nothing in the Angle Evolution line-up? I've owned at one time or another some of the balls you have listed, but to me the Evolution line-up was one of AMF's better line-ups of balls.

You're really cheating yourself if you've never thrown a Nighthawk Revenge.  It's probaly the #1 particle pearl I've ever thrown in my life.  I have a pretty good review(I think) on it.  Check it out.

Here's the problem, during the time that those balls were coming out from AMF and were popular, was a period when I took a hiatus from bowling.  It was cuased by the owner of the center I used to work for being a butthead (he eventually lost the center to bankruptcy) as well as having major elbow problems.  So I took a few years off.  Upon returning, I used the gear I could get my hands on, before investing in a lot of the new stuff until I was sure my elbow and psyche could once again deal with bowling.  Now that I'm all the way back, including running a pro shop for the small Air Force Base lanes, I'm completely back to AMF!

Now, WHY AMF?  Well, I've always bowled well with AMF gear, and LOYALTY is a major "flaw" of mine - see, I'm a retired Marine!  And I don't want to join a ball-of-the-week club, and don't want to spend thousands on trying out every ball every maker comes out with.  So I'll stick to AMF.  I am also the only one in this city rolling exclusively AMF! (which I'm trying to change, little by little)

I have enjoyed some AMF balls also.

I remember the AMF Evo Tour as one of the best all time heavy oil balls ever!

I LOVED the AMF Evo EXtra.  Don't know why I sold it!  It could really handle carrydown.  If I knew now about surface I could have used it very effectively at my home center which is an extreme wet dry!

In fact just last night I watched a fellow switcher(right to left) shoot a 247 235 with his Extra.  The week before he shot 268 in league.  He had recently purchased some new balls and went back to his old faithful Extra and started tearing it up about 3 weeks ago!

I also was a fan of the Hawk...Have torn up sport shots with a TiHawk.

Have often thought of AMF as pretty strong balls at the backend.

The Track Spell was a big winner for me on the heaviest of flat oil patterns!  Very similar to today's AMF Super Scamp!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I can't forget the Victory SPT which I loved and turned a few locals into very very happy users of that killer!

Proud owner of a 140 first game average this year!  Don't bowl me the second two games though!  (two warm up balls in league..thanks proprietors)

Always loved the Black XS. Still have 2 N.I.B. around here somewhere. Unbelievable core in that ball. Mo Pinel's design. Of the newer stuff I liked the Victory SPT the best. Great ball, still using it when there's enough oil.

I keep a green pearl Legacy/C in my bag. I think it's still the best reactive ball I've thrown for toasted lanes. There's something to say about pancake asymmetricals, they go long and hit like a truck.

I have a used 16lb Evo Extra, Evo Tour 2, and Nighthawk Torque Pearl for sale if anyone is interested.  All balls are single drill (no plugs) and are in good condition.

The ones I have now are all 15#.  The Orbit is great for fried lanes and when I want to shoot down-and-in. I found the factory surface was a little too shiny and went too long and bit to hard on the back. Once I scuffed it with scotch-bright however, it tamed the backend and made it a good one!

I used to use my whiplash on medium-oily lanes! On todays conditions? There's only one way to find out!

Luck to you.
