Need feedback on Shredder
« on: November 30, 2010, 08:34:17 AM »
Looking at the Shredder. It's got the specs I like... 2.48,.054 diff, summetric, but I only see afew comments here and no entries in the review section that I can find.

Feedback appreciated. Looking for a strong pearl to go above the Solaris Kinetic...

had one, it was iffy at best, great if there is friction to throw it to, hates oil.

Mine is complete opposite.  a bit of midlane and strong and continuous on the backend.  It was a bit touchy to the friction at first, but a slight scuff with a 4000 pad fixed that.

doesn't release until 12/2. Only staffers and a few shops have them yet, on a medium THS on old wood the ball is too much unless I decrease rev rate, 65% solid with 35% pearl is going to make the ball act like a strong solid, just enough pearl to give it some length, with a strong continuous finish, handles carry down well. About all I can tell you until I use it on synthetics later in the week.

Steve,

I thought the Shredder was already released, and the Shred-It will be released on 12/2?

Its a good ball hmmm.. ill try get a video up this week as well if i can, got to do the Track 916AT first though sorry

But the ball is a great ball Carrys well, and has a pretty sharp breakpoint in the backend.
Its a little too much for "Old wood lanes." Does great on synthetic types.

Only thing is that it needs some oil to work great. If the lanes are spotty and the lanes are too dry, it goes back into the bag

Someone down here uses it as there main ball at Leeward Bowl. Last week shot 860 something, with a 300 the first game. And shot 795 this past sunday. He just had some trouble carrying that day lol.
And he's a lefty as well

Tekneek, I'm betting you are thinking Shred-It instead of Shredder...

Reviews sound a little bit opposite, but I appreciate the input. I typically need more surface than most due to my speed dominant style, so perhaps I'd be ok.

Ehu, the other ball I'm considering is the 607 and I see you list that as well. If I'm looking for a ball with great recovery characteristics, would you favor the Shredder or the 607?

Thanks to all.

If youre more speed dominant, bowler type 4-5, then i would suggest to you the Shredder. I dont think the 607 will recover enough.
How much speed are we talking? RPM? What kind of shot/condition are you on?

I'm about 250-275 revs, can throw either 45 degree or 90 (default release is 90), 16.5 speed. Typicall the left side is very oily where I bowl. You're the first one I've heard question recovery on a 607... That's interesting. Seems to be the ball's main strength, although I'm definitely concerned I'll throw it past the break point...

Not really questioning the recovery of the 607 lol. The ball just doesnt do great in Heavy oil, or alot of oil.

Shredder will do much better in the oil on the left.

Or something lower in price range i would suggest would be the 900 Global Favorite.
