Mini review: Clutch and Sideways
« on: August 30, 2009, 07:13:43 AM »
First off, hats off to Eric Thomas at AMF. He shipped me these balls fast and helped me decide the layouts.

I picked these up last week and had them drilled Friday night and used them today for the 1st time. BOTH are drilled pin above the ring cg stacked under and no weight hole. I used them on synthetics with a fresh house shot.

Sideways: All I have to say is this ball has the proper name!! It has great mid lane roll and goes Sideways at 45 feet!! Its the most angular ball I have ever owned and that's saying a lot. The light hits just shattered the rack. I am looking forward to using it some more.

Clutch: I really like the way this ball rolls through out the entire lane. Its hard to describe but its a heavy rolling ball. It's also very continuous through the pin deck with great carry on light hits. I can honestly see this ball being my go to piece when the lanes are flooded.

These are for sure 2 winners from the boys down in SA. No doubt they are becoming players with the big boys up in Utah!!

PS: User T Brockette was with me today and I'm sure he will chime in on what he thinks after seeing these 2 balls in action.

Couldn't really get a great read on the Clutch, because of the lane conditions today. I will say that at one point, Jim went really deep on a drying out pattern and the ball recovered nicely and had a continuous roll thru the pins.

The Sideways was a different matter. I agree with Jim that I have never seen a ball so angular. The crazy thing is that it wasn't a skid/snap. It was a roll/snap. Ball picked up in the mids, but rolled longer and then exit stage left. I was very impressed with this ball.

I think once he gets to use the Clutch on a little bit more oil, that ball is gonna really shine. Sideways will be my next purchase.
