AMF Velocity

yo i am a left handed cranker on med oiled lanes my speed is about 10mph and i throw with alot of revs. i was wondering if a amf velocity would be a good ball for me

I assume that 10 mph is a typo.  If not, a Blue Dot would be your best bet.    I haven't thrown one, but from what I've read, it's pretty skid/flip for a particle.  If you're looking for something to open up the lanes with, the Velocity could be a good choice.

Velocity has no particle heard that from Amf staffer they said it just for marketing purposes. This subject has been kicked around on the amf forum for awhile about this rumor, i can tell you that 2 different sources that hugh columbia,amf sellers confirmed the same thing the staffer said.

Btw i have a velocity very nice backending ball nice for broken down heads and playing deeper inside lines. If you really throw 10 mph you will never keep it on the left side of the lane unless it is a flood.

no i know its a lot faster than 10mph its about 17 mph typo sry but yeah it was requested from a local proshop

i heard from an AMF staffer that the velocity has particle, but not enough to make a difference. i have similar speed/revs, and it doesn't hook as much as people think. it is great for med-dry lanes...and that's down and in. it does best on drier patterns though

The Velocity is a medium-light to light oil monster for me - with pin under ring and cg kicked out about an inch.  Finished with White scotch-brite and  a light coat of Reacta Shine.  Mistake area - 1 board right or left of center of target center.  This ball is very forgiving of release errors.  And flush srtikes are loud enough to get attention from other bowlers.

Weaker in what way?  It's a completely different ball.  More angular than a ZC.  MUCH stronger core.  As the prior respondants have said, it works better on medium to dry lanes, and up the boards, and it hits HARD, just like it's sister, the Maximum Velocity.  The Maximum can handle more oil, and is not angular...more of a middle to late arc.  The Maximum is my favorite ball, and the Velocity is a great complement to it.

I realize it's a completely different ball.

I was wondering how they would compare to each other on the same condition. Everyone's definition of Dry and Medium is different. My Classic Zone green drilled 5x5 is WAY to strong for anything less than medium.

A friend just drilled the Velocity and it is stronger than I thought it would be. Conditions were lighter side of medium. Ball was much too strong for the condition.
