Velocity - falling apart?

I've noticed that the inside of my Velocity is starting to fall apart.

It's the ball material between the core and the coverstock, starting just under the coverstock.  It's coming from the x-hole, and it seems to be getting worse.

When I first had the ball drilled, I noticed there looked like maybe an air pocket in the x-hole.  That sort of got bigger.  Then I had more side weight taken out (not sure if he drilled deeper or wider).  Is this something I need to worry about?  2 more chunks came out yesterday.

I was able to take a picture of it.  It's not like it is huge amounts, but stuff just always come out - little pieces at a time, like it's starting to crumble apart.

Thanks!  I sent a PM to Pat Nolan asking him to look at this thread.  I always have problems accessing the amf300 website - not sure if it's the site or my ISP.

Anyways, I was just trying to get a feel if what was happening was normal or not.  This is the only ball I've owned with an x-hole, so while I don't think it should be happening, I don't know for sure.

I do know that the ball is the first (and usually the only) ball out of my bag, and if something happens I'll be in a world of hurt at leagues!

yeah i had a velocity do that with like little crumbling weight hole, i also had one bully do that to me as well. i just drilled the weight hole bigger. but an easy solution if you can't or don't want to return the ball is pour plugging in the hole and drill there again, and i had a customer's velocity crack as well right across the bridge and then out from both fingers in a straight line.

good luck, the amf300 people are good with taking care of there customers. you just have to track them down. they can't help you if they don't know about you or your problem so be vocal.

take it back to your pro shop and they can send it to thier distributor and get you a new ball.Every company has this happen sometimes.I just sent back to depth charges from storm that did the same thing.

I guess I'll give it a shot.  I really didn't want to deal with the pro-shop guy anymore.  I've had problems with the ball since I got it and the guy didn't want to help, so I found another pro-shop (it was a drilling and side-weight issue) that was helpful and I'll be buying and drilling my stuff there from now on.  

EDIT: oh, another thing.  I remember when I first took the ball back to him (when it was first drilled and wasn't hooking - too much side weight), he said something about costing $10 to get the warranty honored.  Does that make sense?

I was really hoping I could get somebody from AMF to back me up before I take it back - I just have a feeling the guy is going to tell me "it's nothing, don't worry about it" or maybe offer to plug and re-drill the x-hole.  I don't want to have any problems after the warranty period is over - this is my best ball right now and I want to keep it as long as possible.

On a side note:  why do all the warranties say that they won't honor if inserts are used, especially since inserts are so common (both in leagues and on tour)?

ANother problem with inserts is the reaction between the coverstock and the super glue.

With the slugs it is the pressure associated with putting the slug in the ball and the stress of putting that big hole through 2-3 different materials.

If AMF won't do anything about it just pour some plug material into the weighthole and then redrill it. It should seal the crumbly stuff in the ball and not let the problem worsen.

I got the ball replaced - just picked up the replacement yesterday.  It was made 8/2004, so now I'm concerned if I have another ball from the early batch???  I think my other ball was from 10/2004 (the pro shop took the box back, so I don't know for sure).

If you get a ball replaced under warranty, do you get a new warranty on the new ball?  I didn't get a receipt or anything from the pro shop.  I just don't want to have any problems with the new ball.

the same thing happened to my x-hole on my V. i had to get it plugged and redrilled, but it did it again. if i had bought mine new, i'd get it replaced, but i guess i'm just screwed. i hope it lasts. man i love that ball!!!
