Velocity substitute?

Is there any ball that is similar to the original Velocity?  

I had great success with my original Velocity drilled stacked with x-hole.  The inner material started to crumble (in the x-hole) so I had the ball replaced under warranty.

To avoid future problems I had the replacement drilled label.  It reacts well, but I really wish I would have gone with the more aggressive drilling.  I like the label drill and don't want to plug and re-drill stacked, so I'd like to get another Velocity......except nobody has them anymore.

I see that AMF300 doesn't seem to be using that same core anymore.  Is there anything out there that is similar?  Something from Track or Columbia300, or any other company?  I'd like to stick with an assymetrical core if possible.

You should still be able to find that ball on-line.  Try mgbowling.com.  Looks like you throw 14lb, so you should be okay.  Ball only seems to be available in 12, 14, or 16lb.  Might want to try posting in the Sale/Wanted forum and see if anybody is getting rid of one????

I don't know what would be comparable as far as core and coverstock.  IIRC that was a particle pearl cover, but very little particle.  The core is pretty unique....not sure why they stopped using.  Seems like Columbia and AMF went back to using more symmetrical cores.

I don't remember what it is, but there is a site somewhere that lists balls with similar reactions based on your ball choice.

Okay, so I can still get the Velocity.  Is there anything else out there that will give me similar look/reaction as the Velocity?  Anything from Columbia/Track, or any other company?  

I could get another Velocity and drill it differently, but I might have an easier time with the wife if I just get a completely different ball.

i believe this is the site.  unfortunately no comparison on the velocity.

I would say either the radar or radar lock I am going with the radar lock I havs a maximum velocity and love that ball and looked at all specs and found the radar is a remake in a way same cover slightly diff weight block

The Radar is closer than the Radar Lock, The Radar is actually stronger than the Velocity, but is similair.

The Radar Lock is much stronger, it is stronger than the Maximum Velocity as well.
Another option would be the Venom.

Yep, the Radar would be a good option, however it is a bit stronger in the midlane than the Velocity.   I think the closest ball I have seen to the Velocity is the Dynothane ZR40.   Very clean through the heads with a strong backend.

Interesting, I might have to give that a try.  After looking that ball up, I saw the Dynothane Threshold.  That looks like it might be similar - it has a reactive coverstock with micro particles.  IIRC, the Velocity was reactive with a small load of particle (something like 1% or less).

Should I be looking for a ball with similar RG and Diff numbers, similar core (asymmetric vs symmetric), similar coverstock, or some combination of all 3?  I'm not sure what makes a ball have a similar reaction.

In so many words, the Threshold is a hooking monster -- not at all like the Velocity!  I like the Radar as a good substitute.
