My Drastic Carbide is 16 pounds and has a 3-4" pin out distance. It is drilled pin axis for flying backends and drier lanes.
This review will be relatively biased because I laid the ball out for a specific type of condition.
I typically bowl with this ball during my Thursday night league on synthetic lanes where the oil pattern is 40 feet flat no buff to the backs. Sometimes they wall out the condition 10-10, but other times they don't. I also can use this ball on wood lanes during my second or third shift league where the condition is a crown pattern with a slight hold area developing outside of 10.
During the synthetic league I usually play straight up 10, or 10 to 5 belly with the Drastic. Once it makes it out of the oil the ball gently curves to the pocket. It doesn't over react obviously when it encounters the dry, but can be a little too strong if they wall out the pattern. Since it's a particle it tends to roll earlier than I'd like it to. I can either move deeper a few boards and try to bounce if off the wall if I don't receive over under, or move up on the approach to shorten the lane and play the same line.
During the wood leagues I also play the same lines and use the same adjustments when I need to move. I find that even at pin axis on wood the Drastic Carbide needs some head oil to get down the lane or it will roll at your feet.
Like it's brother the Spec-R it's a very hard hitting and good carrying ball. I just recently put some polish on it to delay the roll a few feet for my wooden leagues, since I prefer to use my Scorcher on the synthetic lanes.
