Bearing problems with storm 4 ball roller
« on: March 28, 2016, 03:23:57 PM »
Owners of the blue thunder 4 ball rollers have some reviewing this bag with the same issue, the bearing are junk. I carry a variety of bearings which I probably could replace if I decide to order this bag, but for $219 this bag should be top notch!

Anyone have issues with their thunder 4 ball rollers?

3 years ago or so, this model was just $190, much less 5 to 6 years ago..

$219?? Holy Cwap!!!

I've had mine about 5, 6 years and the bearings/wheels have been fine.
The only problem I've had is with the zippers' handles; about 5 of them broke. I bought a kit to repair them but it was a major hassle.

I drag mine to leagues 2x a week, many weeks a practice session. I wheel it thru rough parking lots and up and down stairs at the alleys (dumb floor design). So far, so good.

I don't know if/when any changes were made, but I got mine a little over a year ago and haven't had any problems.

I just called a friend and he reports that the center wheel is wobbly. "makes a lot of noise."

I had an older model streamline 4 roller, 5 or 6 year old model which I had changed out the bearings, or added bearings to the wheel, I barely remember, it was a while back. I think pulled out the plastic bushings and replaced them with steel bearings.... there was a time I was constantly changing out bearings on something.....It may have been the streamline or my rolling thunder 2 ball roller.... it's been a while...

Not 100% but I think the Streamlines have bushings and the Rolling Thunders have bearings.

I'm pretty sure you're right. I kinda remember removing the bushings and replacing them with bearings on both wheels on the outside. I left the middle wheel alone. The bearings fitted were for my 1/8 or my 1/10th scale RC truck wheels. My memory has slowly faded and I sold that bag two months ago. Bearings were 3/16...I think lol

Storm does take care of their customers, well they did me several times. The latest thing they did, and they've done this before several years ago, is that they shipped ball cups with no charge to replace the ball cups that cracked. One of the replacements wasn't for a damage ball cup, but a ball cup that was scratching my ball badly. It was deep gashes too.

Another friend, his bag's wheels are junk but he doesn't care about the conditions of the wheels. I offered to place new bearings on them but the wheels doesn't affect the function of the bag, which is to carry his equipment.

I have a 4 or 5 year old 6 ball rolling thunder and the wheels are in great shape, no issues to report.
