Does a 15 pound ball carry better or worse than a 16 pounder.

I think carry will be slightly different, but not necessarily better for one over the other.  Last year when WRW said he went back to 16#, it was to help carry the 5 and prevent 8-10s.  As a straighter player who doesn't generate a lot of angle, light hits can deflect past the 5-pin.  16# equipment won't deflect as much and light hits can carry better.  Players with more angle may not want as much drive as 16# equipment has because they'll fly past the 9-pin.  Lighter weights will deflect more and in that case, it's a benefit.

Really, anything from 14-16# will carry well, just possibly differently.  It may take time to figure out how to make one carry but over time your carry percentage won't be very different.

More important is that you have a ball that's comfortable for you to throw.  If you want to feel like a man throwing 16# but your arm feels like it's gonna fall off after three or four games, the girls throwing 14# equipment will laugh at you.  If you're overthrowing, overhitting, and overmuscling a 14# ball, that's probably not the correct weight for you.
