Anyone know the differences between the royal compound and the factory crown compound Brunswick and Dv8 use to finish a lot of their balls?  I already have the royal compound which i know is 2500 grit and dont want to buy the factory crown if its the same product with an updated name.

Necro thread but for kicks ordered a quart of the old Royal Compound to replace the couple of bottles 6oz Crown Factory I had been using and giving my first impressions.  The Royal Compound seems to start off with a lower grit than the Crown Factory and finishes with a significantly higher sheen if you do 30+ seconds a side.  The consistency itself of the Royal is significantly thicker and requires less to do the same job.  I made the mistake of using about the same amount at first as the Crown Factory and soon found my polish pad full of brown leftover.  Also found the Royal Compound is significantly harder to clean off the pad afterwards.  The Crown Factory seems to be easier to get a pretty consistent result (doesn't seem to go over 2500 to 3000 lightly polished no matter how long you polish) and smells like cherry cola.  Overall both are good.
