Etonic / Dexter compare?
« on: March 16, 2006, 12:38:17 AM »
I've been using Dexter's for a few years now. I had the sst5's then went to sst 6's and with both pairs almost from the get go I always had the tip of the sole refuse to stick to the velcro and always hang a little. I know it's not a big deal and don't really bother me but I was thinking about getting some new shoes and was looking at the Etonic men's dress shoes. No one around here I know uses etonics so can't really ask their opinion. Anyone have any opinions on how they compare slide wise? With the dexters i've always used the most sliding sole/heel *Can't recall #'s offhand*, can't go any less. Don't know if it's a mind thing or just refusal to try and get use to em.

I got a pair of the Stabilite Plus Lava Red about a month ago after having a pair of SST6 for the past 6 years. The leather is very sturdy which made them  a bit stiff for the first couple of days, but I wore them at home and around the bowling alley for a couple of days before I bowled with them. They come with four soles and I have done a slide comparison and found them to be pretty close. Although the Stabilites dont have interchangeable heels, the factory heel has worked for me and I used a #2 Ripple Heel backwards with a #6 sole. I have a buddy who has a pair of the black ones who has alot more slide and he has said that the slide is the same. I considered the balck ones but the Lava  were too ugly to pass up!!

If you want adjustable slide control I know that Etonic is not backing up replacement soles to meet demand to my understanding so that might be food for thought. Where as Dexter is all over the after market.
