Dexter SST5 LX Shoes
« on: December 12, 2008, 11:33:04 AM »
I am finding that the slide shoe heel (H5), which comes on the SST5 LX shoes drags a bit.  However, when I replace it with the red leather heel (H7), it seems to slide too much.

Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there an easy way to break in the H5 heel, to wear it down, which will allow it to slide a little more?

Thanks

yes sir.. the reason why I have a brand new pair of SST6 size 13 sitting in my closet...same exact reason.  I bought the other 3 versions of the H5 heel as well and it didn't help.. I ended up going with a pair of 3G Sport Ultras.
Use a slide sock and their red leather heel.. It was not a slick..
anyway.. I heard the Dexter red heel will get a little tackier over time.. and the H5 tridex should get slicker as it gets dirty and a shine is put on it..
you could try to polish it with some super fine grit pad.. maybe 4000 abralon or maybe some sort of polish.. I think that the rubber is too soft though...

I might try the Dexter's again cause I really like the look and the feel of them..My 3g's are a little tight..

Try to find the blue horse shoe(H5) some shops and distributors still have them. If not try as suggested and sand the heel down with some fine sand paper.

For what its worth, I had a problem with the h5 heel braking to hard.
So I tried the red and almost went to my head. I then tried switching slide soles to compensate. I found that a sole with more slide seems to balance out the heel problem. Hope this helps, Jaimie

I tried all the H5.. I will say that the H5 blue horseshoe was the best.. but still too sticky..

this was just one of the reasons i gave up on dexter bowling shoes-----no matter how i juggled the heel and sole combinations i could never find the right slide. when i switched to the dynorooz( now 3G ) tour ultra's i found exactly what i was looking for.

i have had both the tour ultras and dexter sst7s... i NEVER found a good slide with the tour ultras hell the traction sole for me still slid.. i never understood how no matter what combo i used with the TU i seemed to slide forever.. first thing when i got my sst7s was i had trouble not sliding enough and once they worked in they were PERFECT so i suggest everybody wear dexters if they dont want to slide dynorooz is you want to slide to the arrows... also had a problem with the dynos wit the ring around the slide sole coming undone from the stitching and have not had any problem at all with dexters doing that and the velcro on the brakes on my TU started to come off.. just to me it wasnt as high of a quality but it was more comfy just didnt last as long.
