Sole and Heel Combo on SST 5's, help please
« on: January 30, 2005, 04:49:46 AM »
I just got my SST 5 LX's last week.  I am having trouble figuring out which heel and Sole combination will work best for me.

My last bowling shoes were Dexter Jason II's.  They had S6 slide pads on both shoes.  I have an S6 slide pad ordered at my local pro shop and should be there tuesday.  Wednesday is league night.

I don't know if I am bowling on wood or snythetic. How can you tell?

I tried the S4 Red Leather Sole w/ the h5 blue horseshoe.  Not enough slide. It stopped me pretty quick, but I didn't stumble or fall forward.

After 5 frames, I put the S8 yellow leather sole on.  Much better than the S-4, but maybe a tad too much slide.  I kept the h5 blue horseshoe on all night.

Does it take a while to find the right heel and sole combination?  I hope I didn't over complicate everything.

I feel that once I get the S6 slide pad that should help simplify things. How do you determine how much brake you need?

lots of confusion

It sounds like you are happy with the heel.
I would try a S7 sole.
It is a S8 with holes in it for less slide.
