Finger Grips question....

I'm considering changing from vise power lift grips to the power oval or just oval grips, and my question is:  Did anyone who did this have to drop a size or two, or did you keep the same size?  Right now I use a size 4 / size 2 combo, and fits fine left to right, but would I potentially drop to a 3.5 / 1.5?  I ask here because getting to my pro shop these days pretty much requires asking for time off from work.

in fact I didn't drop a size but the effect was that my fingers didn't hurt anymore. the snug tight fit was the same while the angle was not so "painful" the effect on rotation was zero!
Powerlifts didn't increase my revs and the change to ovals didn't reduce me revs.

try it.
same size should do it - same size did it for me

You usually can keep the same size if you're just changing from lifts to ovals.  However, if you switch to Vacu-Grips, you do need to drop a size to accomdate that.  And if you haven't considered it, I DO highly recommend trying Vacu-Grips if you're going to be changing out grips anyhow.

By having the top of the finger hole slightly larger than the bottom, the top portion of the insert has a little room to expand around your finger.  This creates a consistent feeling, no matter whether your hand is small or swollen that day.  It helps me feel like the ball comes off my fingers the same every time rather than some days worrying about it dropping off my hand early or hanging on too long.  The insert conforms around my finger without making it tight, which for me is a perfect fit.

What's also nice is that you can do a Vacu-Grip type of installation without any extra hardware.  You can drill the top section of the finger hole slightly wider to recreate the same effect you get from using the actual Vacu-grip sleeves in the fingerholes.  The inserts themselves are just standard inserts, it's just a different way of installing them.  (No, I do not know the specifics of how deep to drill, what size drill bit to use for each part, etc.  Sorry)

Using power lifst is normally "nmecessary" if the player cannot bend the first finger digit very well and need that extra hold - with the oval side, it can feel as if the finger hole has too much pitch and you might slip out of them.

The Vacu inserts are another option, as a a power lift alternative. They are more flexible, but also enhance the lift and leverage effect on the ball. Definitively worth a try! The only drawback I found is that they need larger holes - the bridge can become very thin, and easily crack.

I had vacu grips in 1 ball it felt good but it wasn't that big of a feel difference for me. the middle finger grip stuck on my hand and I never used them again..lol the same happened with the switch grips I broke 2 of them and haven't used them since..
