Title: Finger Tape (like Malott)
Post by: themagician on April 04, 2009, 11:01:24 AM: How many of you tape up your fingers like Big Wes?

I've been curious and decided to order a roll and experiment, its not here yet but does anyone have tips for cutting it to fit right or have any comments from using it?

what you do is cut a strip about 4-5 inches long. then cut out two small triangles at approximately the middle then you can bend the tape over your finger. take another strip about 2-3 inches long and cut it in half length wise. place this tape around the base of the original tape. it will hold it in place so it doesn't peel off.

Post by: themagician on April 04, 2009, 07:46:03 PM: Thanks for the reply TheDude, I think I grasp what your saying but until my order arrives and I try it I can't really say. I was curious if anyone had a picture by picture direction or anything or that sort as that would be incredibly helpful.

And any comments on how good the tape is would be nice, I ordered the NT50 stuff which is what Vise says Malott uses.

Post by: notsohotshot on April 04, 2009, 11:24:11 PM: I am not sure what type Malotte uses but the best and easiest I've found is Ebonite Wrap Tape and it comes with lines on the paper part on the back.

You would cut each piece as if you were making a T on each end. Put the middle of the stripover the end of your finger tip then use the wings of the T'S to wrap around your fingers to hold the tape in place.The stuff stretches just about as much as you want it to,so you can make it thin or leave it kinda thick-your choice.
