Title: Fitting Tape: Vise vs. Turbo
Post by: iamone78 on June 19, 2011, 04:17:02 PM
I am currently using the Turbo fitting tape (green, purple, & beige) for use on the back of my thumb. I was interested in the Vise Performance Tapes (V-25, TT-25, & Hadda Patch) and was wondering what the differences or similarities between Turbo and Vise fitting tapes (i.e. coarseness, material, thickness, stickiness, etc.) are. I am not too concerned or interested on the using the various fitting tapes on the fingers from either company and would like information/feedback pertaining to the fitting tapes for use on the back of the thumb. Thanks in advance for your help and feedback!

I've tried both Turbo and Vise. I currently use Vise, but have no real preference between the two. I usually use the pre-cut red Hada patch. It seems to be the same thickness and release profile as the beige tape from Turbo. The Vise Blue tape is a bit thinner and provides a quicker release, the Green/Aqua tape is a bit thicker than the Red and gives you a slower release. The Grey is the thickest and provides the slowest release of the four Vise tapes. Either product should work for you.

WTF does a question about thumb tape have to do with the griips glove? The glove does nothing for your thumb..
Anyway, I use the Turbo tape because that's what my center carries. I use the purple which is in between the beige (thinner) and the mint (thicker). Works great for me, I buy it in rolls and pre-cut it myself. I would give the Vise tape a try if I find a shop that has it.

Well, Beastie, that proves it. Your company is so concerned about this product that you've resorted to stiff-arming your sellers into not even carrying it. That means it is a major concern for the Vise company, which backs up the claims that it is a superior product to your flimsly little rubber grips that wear out after 10 games. You are scared of them, and rather than stepping up to the plate like men, and putting your best product forward to compete with them, you are taking the cowards way and are bullying pro shops. Since you're operating like the mob, do you make them pay you a % every week for "protection" as well?
If your products are so great, why are you so afraid to go toe-to-toe with this item in the market?

Uh, JellO? Today's homework for you is to look up the word "sarcasm".
Don't believe in the Uzi, it just went off in my hand. I, I believe in love.

Thanks to everyone for their honest opinions and experiences with both brands of fitting tapes.

I find that the vise tape sticks to my thumb much better than the turbo. If i use turbo I'm lucky to make it through one game without any peeling. The vise last me a whole set. The only downfall of that is the residue left on my thumb. As far as the release with each i find little to no difference.

I found this to be the same for me, the precut stuff all around sticks better for both companies but I never got as good adhesion without using alcohol on my skin to dry it off before using tape.
I use the Vise Red precut Hada tape, the Turbo Beige gave me the same feel release wise when it stayed adhered to my thumb.

I'm curious? Is there something going on here that pits Turbo vs. Vise? A couple posters seem very sensitive about this subject. I'm just very curious now.

Nothing that is a legitimate argument. Both products work well, it's like Honda vs Toyota or Ford vs Chevy. Go with your preference and use that one and you will be well served.

Since another poster (you likely know who) is stalking me now in the bowling threads and accused me of some agenda here in even asking this question, could you please send me a PM and explain further? That poster referred to you as the "head" of Vise, or something like that?

That's a long dead topic that was never relevent to begin with. But I will state one last time that I have no connection to Vise or their parent company.
