Genesis Pure Pad
« on: September 01, 2015, 07:11:21 PM »
Anybody using one? I see a lot of pros are using it and the idea looks interesting.

Worth the $20 investment?

Storm and Master have a "pad" that probably works in the same fashion... There is a recent thread about them here - http://www.ballreviews.com/miscellaneous/storm-shammymaster-wipeitdry-t308967.0.html

I paid $16.95 for mine and it's worth every penny. Works way better than even microfiber.

Someone told me it was buffalo hide, but whatever it is it works.

it takes the oil out for sure but for me i dont like it because the pad is so grippy that you cant do your usual 360-720 degrees spin on the towel(pad) lol.

The Genesis pad is buffalo leather. I'm assuming the others are the same or some type of leather/suede.  I also agree with Ken about it being too tacky.  I bought a piece of buffalo leather off of Ebay and it worked the same at removing oil from the ball.  Was a little linty though.

It might be buffalo leather, then again, it might not. I have not seen any Buffalo missing a 5 inch square of their skin, but that's what I have been told.  ;D

I found it to be a bit too tacky at first as well, so I had to change my method of wiping balls after a shot. And mine is a bit linty/stringy as well, but it really works great.

I have one and I hate it, you can't spin the ball in your palm like with a normal towel. This thing is so tacky you need to hold that ball and wipe the towel around it. Not the same as with micro fiber. I would suggest trying one before you buy it.

I think you're looking at it from the wrong point of view.
Being able to spin the ball on the cloth/pad is all for show and not for the efficiency of removing the oil from the surface. Even with a micro-fiber towel, you should wipe the oil off and not depending on spinning the ball to do the oil removal properly. Even more so with the pad.

Really? Complaining that a towel is doing its job? the towel is supposed to remove the oil like this new shammy towels not just remove a portion of it like a microfiber towel...

The pure pad works great. Reaction for me has never been as consistent shot to shot. Crazy how much better it works.

Lol, your towel is probably right beside my shoe brush.

I buy those steel brushes at walmart for $.69 or $.89 because I leave them behind too. lol

I'm going to give this sham a try. I may put a hole in one corner so I can attach a link chain which would be attached to my belt loop. I'm going heavy metal on this so I don't leave it behind. (For $19 I can get two or three boxes of micro towels)
