Well, time for a new pair of shoes. I've bowled on my trusty Burgundy SST 6's for 1 1/2 years, and have gotten good use out of them. They have a nice, wide, footprint that gives my big dumb self good stability at the foul line (6' 4", 220 lbs).
I tried like hell to like the Tour Ultras. They are sexy, light, and comfortable as hell. Unfortunately for me, they have both a) a little too much slide, and b) a smaller footprint for the slide foot. Also, the rubber under the right shoe is getting chewed all to hell (shoulda tried the shuffler, I suppose). Overall, I may differ, but they have not held up as well as my Dexters. I did kind of make them work by cutting out Dexter soles and heels to fit, but overall, they're not for me.
I know lots of people love the Ultras, and I see why. But they don't work for everybody's game, just like some bowling balls might be the greatest in the world for some, but not for everyone. The Danny Wisemans and Marshall Holman types, ie, people with more of a slide then me, should love them.
The Stabilites are wider than the Dexters, I'm hearing good reports about the comfort, the heel is supposed to stop you when you put it down, and I'm getting them $105 shipped from bowling.com with coupon. Sold! I'll report on know how they work out.
Anybody want the Ultras? Size 13. A little beat up, but $35 shipped to whoever wants them. All soles and Adjust-a-heel provided.
