custom bowling shoes?

Has anyone here ever had a regular pair of gym shoes made into bowling shoes?

 I was talking with my pro shop guy and he told me that he has a friend that does this for bowlers for about 70 dollars.

Chi,
My brother has gym shoes made into bowling shoes for a lot less than that.
Just find a shoe repair store, and they can put a slide sole on the gym shoe . . .

Or buy a pair of Dexter SST 5 Sports. I use them they are like basketball shoes.
I can't wear regular bowling shoes, need high tops.

Rich I broke down yesterday and bought the Dexter SST 6.  It's the heavy metal black and blue ones.  That's the name of them.

I have never spent a lot of money on shoes but my mind has changed about that.  I realized last week just how important good shoes are to keeping balance.  I'm so much more focused on my approach and balance than ever before.  I want to be consistent at the line and make quality shots.  Well good bowling shoes is a must for this.  Where I bowl the approaches are not the best in the world if you know what I mean.

I will try out these dexters and see hoe they work.  I wont rule out buying a good pair of NIKE and having them turned into bowling shoes.  The only thing though is I would want them to be Inter changeable soles. That's what I like about the sst 6.

Hope they work out for you. Dexter makes good shoes...not as good as the old Custom Lind's from the 70s, but you can't go back in time.

I'm going to see if I can throw a ball. I'm seeing an Ortho surgeon on Monday.

Sounds like your games going well.

Maybe we can hook-up next week sometime. (Take some vids?)
