Great bowling shoes for less. (do it yourself)
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:38:43 AM »
So I was on bowlingball.com looking at some great deals on Circle bowling shoes and really wanted a pair.(I'm a huge fan of Circle products) The only problem is they didn't have interchangeable heels and soles. So I figure for the price I can buy them and do it myself. Needless to say it worked great. Here are some pics. (And works great with my dexter heels and soles.)

Anybody have any Circle bowling towels or shirts out there???

The shoes

The bottom, already started some.

Everything removed

Industrial strength velcro.(used before a time or two on my dexters)

Sideview. It looks like they overlap, but they don't.

Trimmed edges.

Finished product

Dexter sole and heel, and Circle logo that is also removable.

finished product

My favorite combo, the reverse cleat.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

The velcro part on the shoes is identical to what is used by Dexter, the other I guess you would say softer part used on the actual heels or soles is thicker.

I've only had to use it to replace what is on my cleat/heel. The soles them selves ware out to fast. Not a very good deal for what they charge.

When you google 3M velcro it does bring up a lot of stuff. Have you tried emailing 3M?

As far as I know Velcro is not made by 3m.. they may use some 3m adhesives on their products but the actual product is made by the company Velcro Industries

here is a better sized package, this picture also shows the hook side which is exactly like dexters soles.

the hard part to find is the "loop" side that dexter uses.. The standard velcro loop is longer and more "loopier", if that is a word... and what ever is stuck to it will slide back and forth as the longer loops move...

I made a custom felt sole and some others for my dexters.. The boat carpet I ended up using seemed to work pretty good.. not ideal but it worked..if you just stuck it by hand it wasn't that secure.. but after stepping on it and walking a bit you had to really pull to get it off.
