I don't know what the proper name for them is. It is like a "mole skin" material (very short, almost fury/fuzzy material). The (wax) sticks have been around for decades. My first (and last!) experience with them was back in the early `70s when I was having a problem with a damp shoe (courtesy of a co-bowler's beer

). It was supposed to help me slide better. Instead, I ended up doing a face plant down the first quarter of the lane that would have made a skier proud

! I never was able to get rid of the added gumminess until I got home and washed the sole off with water and soap and gave it time to air dry.
Also, on another note (but related), is there a better way to learn how to use (read: not break your neck) higher end shoes with a "breaking" heal when I am used to sliding flat-footed?
Thanks again,
Joel
