Sould I get a new pair of SST5's or 6's
« on: December 17, 2006, 02:05:08 PM »
I like thie idea of interchangeable soles, but I do question Dexter's durability. This would be my 3rd pair from them and didn't get much more then a year out of them. I had two pairs before that didn't last that long. The push off foot on my SST5's is falling apart and only superglue holds them together. The S4 sole doesn't last that long on them either.I want to spend under a hundered, problaly have to go to eBay even then but my question is shoud I get another pair of SST5's or 6's or something else? I've been eyeing Dynorooz, and I've only heard great things about them. Is it possible to use my old Dexter soles with them? I realize the heels can't be used. I also like the removeable toe cover on the pushoff foot. Nice job Dexter after years they finnaly understand that the push off foot is poorly designed and finnaly in the SST7's have them. But are they removeable? Problem with the Dynorooz unless you spend 120 + you only will get the 2 soles and heels.
Then there is Brunswick Classic and the new high priced Etonic ones. I also used to have the Linds XXXtra's but I like the whole sole to come off.

The Brunswicks are produced by Dexter unless things have change recently. Brian what size do you need?? You can use the Dexter heels as long as you cut out a plug area or cut the plug off of the Dyno-Roos. I have not tried the soles but anticipate them to be interchangeable upon right sizing and cut down.

I wear 8...
Yes, I was wondering about that stopper that that hangs out on the Dynothane shoe. I'm still wondering what's the point of that thing. I'm assuming the Dexter soles will work then?
There is a part of me that could still buy another SST5 or 6 but I'd be worried I would be getting a year out of them again. If I'm paying 100 bucks for high tech bowling shoes, I expect them to last a long, long time. I don't want to hear some of people that say "your hard on shoes". That's what attracts me to Dynothane. I also like that toecap on it. With the way I slide I really rough up that part of my pushoff foot. That's how my Dexter's got destroyed. If they had a toecap, they would have been fine.  I know alot of people that still have the old ABS ones from years ago still going strong.

after some research, I ultimatly decided to part my ways with Dexter. The quality was the biggest issue. I really liked the idea of the replaceable soles. In fact, seems like I couldn't go back to a regular shoe and hope to find the right slide and feel. Plus I couldn't get them like the deal I got on eBay fro SST5's so I ended up getting Dynothane's ABS Sport Deluxe. Only comes with 2 soles and heals but they are in the middle feel range so that will probaly be all I need. I can always buy extra's soles and heels down the road. Was looking at the Tour Ultra's and see they have cleets. Nah, been through that with the old Linds XXXtra's and they are not that great.
But looking forward to getting them, got the recomendation of bowlingball.com. Good website.
