How stable are the 3G shoes
« on: September 08, 2009, 02:44:15 PM »
I am thinking of buying a pair of 3G Tour or Sport Ultras. I bought a pair of Dexter SST6 LE in June and the rubber on the push off toe is already wearing off. How do the 3G shoes rank in stability when you slide? I've heard everybody who likes these say that the leather is very soft and they are comfortable, but how sturdy are they? I have bad feet and jnees and need all the stability I can get!

I've never had a problem with mine except for some stitching on the top of the toe. I like them.

they are very  durable shoes, and comfortable.. but if your concerned about wearing the the push off shoe. You may have the same wearing on the inside sole just like the sst6s.. I havent had any wearing out of either pair of my 7s though.. I think its because the toe of the shoes is different..

I still have my original ones the ABS shoes with the big A on the back..

They wear very well and are super comfortable

I don't have Dexters to compare them with but people that have both say the Dexters have a little wider platform

I have a pair of 3G's that I have worn the toe out on in about 6 months or less. I did the same to my Etonic's and have come to the conclusion that it's the way I drag my toe during my slide step! They're great shoes, but so is the Etonic's.

If you buy the 3G tour Ultras you can change the toe so when you wear it down you can replace it, you cant do that with dexters.

Thanks guys. About the stability of the shoe when you slide, how does it compare to Dexter and Etonic? I like comfort, but I also need stability.

The stability when you slide Is good just as so with the dexters.. The only etonics I have tried were the dress shoes..They were good But I actually prefer the wide base of my sst7's.. I'm not knicking any other shoes because I still ove my ultras.. They are the lightest and softest bowling shoes I have ever felt

The Tour Ultra push off has a Kevlar sole and toe cap, which should be substantially more durable than rubber or even hardened rubber.

If you haven't order the 3Gs yet, go get some SST8s. I have worn holes in 3 pairs of ABS. I have the SST7s and 8s right now. There is a new product coming out for the 8s that will make everyone happy that wear through their push-off soles. The new push-off soles on the 8s will protect the shoes and they will have to be replaced instead of the shoes all together. I have the prototype of this sole and it is working great. I see this making the SST8s the most popular shoe around. And on the comfort part, the 3Gs fit tighter and are a little lighter, but I think the SSTs offer more support.

Hey mx,

Do you have any idea when that new product will be available?

I'm not sure when they will be coming out. I will try to find out this week for you. I know that a couple pros are using the sole right now along with myself.

depends on how much you bowl, i had a pair of dynoroozs last 4 years and just bought the tour ultras and have heard nothing but great things about them.  Im a 3G fan myself but the new dexters look nice too....anyone can wear holes in shoes if they use them enough
