dexter sst 6 lx vs. dynarooz tour ultra
« on: April 22, 2006, 03:15:09 AM »
this question is for serious bowlers who have switched from their dexter sst 6 lx's to the dynarooz tour ultras. i suffered through my worst year( sliding wise ) this past year at my local house. they won't clean the approaches as they should and no matter what combination of heels and soles i tried i couldn't find a happy median. will switching to the dynarooz make that big of a difference ?

with my dexters I use custom made soles. much better. the set cost me 200 ( 12 heels soles) but lasted 6 years and are outlasting the dexters.

I did just buy the etonics + stabliities. very nice but too soon to say they are the best. however after owning serveral linds, dexteres and now etonic. etonics are the most comfortable out of the box and slide nice. the plant foot grips the lane real well.

I have yet to need to change the soles. one wood lanes, one synthetic. I need to slide to bowl good and these are pretty good so far. in a year or two I would post a review. but for a few months. not too bad.

I don't think there's a shoe made that can combat bad, unkept and dirty approaches..The Roos are a great shoe, I have 3 pair, and I see alot of Dexters out there also,..but bad approaches are just that...BAD. I raise hell with the center,..you're the customer. jim

I have a cheap set of Dynorooz...the Tour Deluxe...but I went and bought most of their soles and heels!

I've noted a couple of things.  On the US shoes they have sewing around the border of the front sole that is actually raised a touch.(not the international shoes I see).  I find even if I use a stiffer sole(less sliding) that the sewing around that border stills feels slippery to me on those slippery days!

Our synthetic surface is also very poorly maintained and is either very slippery...say unstable and very quickly changeable.

I in general have been slightly unstable since I got my Dynorooz on just this one surface.....everywhere else I have gone...both wood and more textured synthetic approaches I have been NAILING my finish position and bowling ....much better!  This with my Dynorooz.  As a person who likes to slide and likes to nail my approach this has had a serious affect on my bowling.

Two other observations on Dynorooz...their heels in general have a more rounder front border so a flat rubber heel(say number 5 from Dexter) the Dynorooz version slides longer and also sticks less on sticky days(due to this rounded vs sharper front border).

Also Dynorooz has a heel that somedays I just love!  It is inbetween their flat and their rippled and now discontinued...I call it dimpled.  It is great on synthetics and seems to slide better than the flat when sticky and stick better when slippery.  (note I don't usually like the red carpet style heel..everyone else likes on sticky synthetics(too slidy)).

I like the dimpled so much that I bought 4 of them to hoard!

Yesterday extremely dirty slippery and almost oily feeling I used dimpled and it was great.  All of a sudden it was almost slipping out on me and I looked down and had to wipe off a bunch of black stuff accumulating on the dimples and it seemed to be back to perfect again on these piece of crap highly glossy synthetic approaches.

Note...I have not tried the new Tri Heel from Dexter yet and wonder about them..they look like they work well on our surface!

My summary.... as a person who likes to slide BUT not too much I have often used number 4 heel from Dexter and number 8 sole when I owned them(red carpet heel and #10 grey felt sole are TOO slippery for me) or the Dimpled heel from Dynorooz I still think Dexter may be better(because of lack of stitching or border around sole)...But on all decent slide conditions...Dynorooz is a better shoe(I nail everywhere else).

PS note I probably would use a number 7 sole and a number 4 heel most places to judge my desire to slide.  Not too much...not too little ...just right!
