Need advice on wrist supports
« on: February 24, 2009, 03:35:54 AM »
. . . my wife and daughter are just starting to bowl
. . . of course both have weak wrists that they tend to throw backup balls

. . . I'm thinking of having them use wrist support to help them
. . . and I'm considering the Robby Revs III @ $45.99 with free shipping

. . . can anyone give me an opinion on this support - good or bad
. . . and if there are better supports out there.

. . . I included the price just in case anyone know
. . . where I can find a better bargain

. . . thanks in advance.

I think Robbie Revs in one of the best on the market.  I don't remember if Robbie Revs has the fingers supported, but thats the one I like the best.  With weak wrist and possibly weak fingers, they'll bend back if not supported and cause pain.

Im currently using a Moro pro release extended. I like it alot, just wished I had not waited so long to try one. It gives me consistency through out my release. Its a good thing. Vise also has one but for comfort I like the Moro pro release with it padding both in front nd back of the wrist area.

Careful about using wrist supports...they make you ugly.  Mike Scroggins was a handsome guy until he started using a wrist support and look at him now!

On a serious note, think about buying them the glove/wrist support with the metal support in the back that can be removed (Columbia 300 makes a real comfortable one).  Not nearly as bulky and much easier to wean them off of the gloves once their skills start to improve.

Best for me would be Brunswick Powerkoil. Almost same as robbies but locking mechanism. I bowl 3 nites a week plus practice and robbies lasted maybe 3 months before it wore a grove into brace. Before u spend 40-50 a brace i would start off with the glove brace or cheaper robbies brace

I too am happy with my Powerkoil.  I can bowl 10 games in one session and no wrist pain.

I also tried a Robby's Revs II and found the Powerkoil a better fit for me.

robby's original revs doesn't allow the wrist to break at all, but is adjustable from almost flat to hard core cupped, also has lateral adjustments.

it also fits nice and deep on top of your hand, so i didn't feel the need for the mega finger.

i bet somebody had a used one in good shape for sale............
let me see if i can find that thread

You might look into a Storm Sportcast. Keeps the wrist straight and your hand is on the ball. Lot less $$!
