What do you think of them, how do they fit and is the slide shoe stable when you slide?

Keep us posted. ..I was a fan of the 6 and the later version of the 7's...I use the 8s but those feel like gunboats..no flexibility. ..

I've had the SST Tank's for a couple of months and I like them a lot but they do take some getting used to. Like the name suggests they are really solidly built and a touch heavier than most other shoes on the market. Since it's basically a canvas shoe with a leather heel/toe there was zero break-in time. The roomy fit is closer to a pair of hiking boots than the sneaker like feel of my old SST 5's.

Performance wise, the Tank feels very stable but the three slide soles included with the shoes (S6/S8/S10) were all too slippery for my local bowling center. Also, the soles don't have much give to them but it doesn't seem to bother me personally. Overall, I'm glad that I picked these up and I look forward to getting a few year's use out of them.

Thanks for the detailed review! Do they fit narrow or wide on your foot? Glad to know the soles dont give much since I have a arthritic big toe on my slide foot, I need to wear stiff soled shoes.

They're pretty roomy in the toe box and I have the regular width version (Dexter doesn't make wide width shoes for lefties). I am a little concerned about the fit though: It's looser than any Dexter shoe that I've worn before and I can't seem to get it as tight as I want. Probably the drawback of having a thick durable shoe with a comfortable lacing system.

In hindsight, I probably should have gone a half size smaller.

Well I saw them in action Friday night. I felt them, tried them on, and watched my buddy use them all night. Even though they had never been worn, they felt like a broke in pair of shoes. That being said, they were very solid and appear very durable. The only thing I'm curious about now is whether or not the slide sole will stay put and not start peeling back like previous dexters I've had. I guess time will tell. And the debate in my mind continues...the less fashionable tour ultras, or the potentially unstable slide sole design of the tanks. Decisions decisions.

I have a pair, they run a little more narrow than the SST8's and have a different feel, closer to an athletic shoe stance almost, very comfortable. They feel like they will last, definitely are double stitched and put together well, I bowl a lot and am a toe dragger so i'll update if I see anything negative, but so far so good with them.

I have had a pair since they were released and a bit let down. They are a high quality pair of shoes and they seem like they will last for i good amount of time. For me the shoes are extremely narrow. I was able to wear a regular width SST 8 with these I have a 2W wide width and they are still very narrow. Also the toe cap seemed very tight which I recently learned was intentional to create a "custom" fit once the shoe molded to your foot. If I were to make the decision again, I would definitely buy the SST 6 LZ instead. I measured the heel of the wide width Tanks and compared to the heel of the regular SST 8 and found the Tank to be a half inch more narrow there.
