Just a quick question...
How many of you here use a shoe slider to help with getting more
slide? Particularly the Ebonite/AMF ones? Just curious because I am
working on an improvement on these and wanted to hear some of the issues
you have come across with them?
Thanks,
Joe

I tried to use them when I was using a cheap pair of dexters. I guess they don't consider a size 13 part of the one size fits all...Wouldn't fit over the shoe

I use them all the time .. my biggest surprise is that they wear-out much quicker then I expected. Bought a couple from a BR member who has a company that makes them ..they lasted a lot longer then the EBONITE .. both worked well!

Size 13 here as well, no problem with the size from the ones I tried when I had cheap shoes. However, I agree they wear out way too fast. Ended up being cheaper just to get myself some good shoes in the long run.
I'd only get them again if it was an emergency. Though I could see a better quality version kept in my bag maybe an adjustable leather or heavy canvas. Velcro bottom and multiple sole choices would be interesting.
If nothing else something like that would give women more options as my wife gave up trying to find a womans shoe with changable slide soles.

We own patents on the Bowler's Slide Sock. We make up to sizr 20! and have made as small as ladies size 4. The others wear out very fast and do not provide a proper slide. They are just slick due to their flannel base. The Bowler's Slide Sock provides the proper slide regardless of condition. Slick or tacky wood or synthetic it does not matter. On average it is not unusal for the Bowlers's Slide Sock to last 6 months to a year. Currently there are twelve slide sock manufactures in the world that we know of.

If you are talking slid socks, I used them until I got a pair of shoes that are foot specific. I tried Ebonite/AMF/CAL. The Ebonite and AMF wore out wy to fast, the CAL lated the longest. I shared this with my pro shop and now they pretty much only carry the CAL unless their distributor cnnot get them.

There is a fine line. Some Pro Shops want something that will wear out quickly so that it is replaced every couple of weeks. If it last longer than that they believe it hurts their sales. Some shops want the cheapest price on slide socks they can get regardless of quality. Then some want the best quality and or the best performance. Some companies at times have distribution issues. Thus is why you will see different brands from time to time in shops. It is even the reason why the Cal Slide was created we were told. And even some shops want slide socks that draw attention and look different. We build ours on quality and performance. We started by custom making The Bowler's Slide Sock for the best senior scratch bowlers in the country. They wanted the best performance and something they could count on.

I have been using the one from smash for about 2 years now and they are great. Work both with sticky and slippery approaches. I now dont even question the approaches no matter where I bowl. One of the great things about these are the ability to turn them inside out once you wear out one side. They last twice as long that way.
Oh year I have Dexter SST7s now and because of the slide sock I dont have to worry about the rubber toe issues that some people complain about.

The white/ red ones are on sale. I just ordered one to try it out. =D

Hey! I made it all the way to the gutter. Shouldn't I get like 20 points or something?

Great!
Don't forget to prep the sock the first time you use it by rubbing it into the carpet behind the bowlers area. It will usually take about 5 to 10 minutes and then be careful for a few frames. After that it will dial itself in and be perfect. You only need to do this once unless you wash the sock. That is the only break in period otherwise they are very slick. Thank you and let us know what you think!
