Questions on TPU-X
« on: October 23, 2015, 09:31:57 AM »
I tried to use my new 3G Tour Ultras, but I guess they just have too much to live up to from the old D/T Tour Ultras. These definitely need break in and are cutting my ankle. I'm going to send them back and get the TPU-X based on what I've seen in this forum.

I have a few questions for the TPU owners:
1. Are all color variations now selling as rev 2? I heard that there was some old stock left on rev 1, but I want to make sure I get the new release. How do I tell?

2. I would really like to get the white and black combination, but I am left-handed and it is only sold as a right-handed option. It is my belief that since all heels and soles are interchangeable, therefore if I wanted to buy a left-handed slider sole and left handed push off sole, I could for minimal cost (circa $30) convert the right-handed white/black into a left-handed pair. Is that true or false?

Other constructive comments also solicited.
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure on #1 but I do know that the distributors do not have any white and black shoes left.  There is no plan from Brunswick to order anymore of that color so what there is there is.

You would just need to order the RH shoes and then order the left hand slide and push off soles like you described to make it a left handed shoe.

Good Luck finding a pair.

I was informed that all colors are Rev 2. The shop I use told me they sent back all the old Black/Blue since those were the last batch sent with the revisions.

These are the best shoes I have ever owned! Great comfort and the slides and heels all slide great, unlike Dexters.

I use one of my Dexter heels with mine. Haven't taken time to break in the Brunswick one.

The rubber heel that comes on it slides better than any of the dexters for me. Minimal break in for me as for the dexters still not sliding consistently for me.

I do not like to slide,  so it takes some adjusting

Every person I've talked with who's tried them on have said the exact same thing.

Is there anyone out there that have tried the first and second gen of the TPU-X, and is a toe-dragger?  My first gen is basically destroyed but I don't want to buy another one unless i'm sure that there is a noticeable difference in the durability of the toe cap.

hammajangs,

For toe protection you could try this:

http://www.bowlwithbrunswick.com/accessories/detail/power-step-traction-sole/

Or you can use the Dexter Power Step, which is more of a long-term solution.  I've had one on my right toe for over a year with no signs of wear.  Brunswick has not (to my knowledge) come out with something similar (although I wish they would).  Your local shop can order the Power Step easily.

Thanks Lane, I didn't know that the Dexter Powerstep fits on the TPU-X, and would be a great fix for me!
