For What its worth,
I used to use a wrist master because I used to collapse my wrist at my release. It did keep my wrist from doing so when I wore, but as others said without it...uggh. I felt so weak. I would say if you start using one, be prepared to use it for a long time. In my case it did help my release because I didn't flatten my wrist so I did get better revs and carry.
Now I also have used a Bulldog, which is a support that extends from forearm to knuckle. I loved it, it helped my release a TON! But the thing I like from the Bulldog is that its more of a guide than support(think of a splint vs. a cast) so when I was ready to put it down, there was no weak feelings with my muscles.
