Title: Resistant bands for bowling

Has anyone ever used resistant bands, to get in shape for bowling? Weightlifting, seems unrealistic!! I realize, that your legs are important when fatique sets in. I think a good cardio workout and resistant bands should do the trick for toning, stretching and a lil muscle. This may be a bit of a cop out, but any exercise you do can be beneficial, especially on the lower body.  Much like asking for a drill pattern on line, getting the proper training regimen on line is difficult.

I'm almost positive BTM did a whole "Bowling Fitness" piece a while back. If gave a list of exercises specifically tailored toward bowlers. If you can't find that, I'd check the USBC web site, and possibly contact their Exercise and Strength Conditioning Specialist Nick Bohanon. The guy knows his stuff, and he's about as nice a guy as you'll find. If you email him, I know he'd be willing to give you some tips.

Just as the previous posters alluded to, any exercise is good prep for bowling. Specifically the resistant bands are excellent for toning of specific muscles groups and ligaments crucial to bowling. I tore my bicep tendon last November and had my physical therapist lay out some specific exercises targeting my bowling muscles, as part of my rehab. I still exercise regularly in the gym but have specific work-outs to go along with my regular routine. What the resistant bands can do is target secondary and tertiary muscles that you are not aware of normally. Those are the much smaller “helping” muscles that make the large muscle groups stronger. So the answer to your question is….YES!
