Problems with Dexter
« on: August 24, 2006, 05:36:22 AM »
I was just wondering it was me but has anyone else been having issues with Dexter's.   With in a 4 year period I wore out 2 pairs of SST 5's and a pair of SST 6's.  I have had a pair of dynothane for about 8 months (sport classics) and they haven't given my any problems thus far.  Had anyone else had dexter's that have been wearing out rather quick on them

The one pair I had about 5-6 years ago were toast within a few months...I went back to my Linds I bought in 1995 and I am still using them today!

not wearing out, in fact my dexters sst5's were 6 years old, but the sole kept ripping up on the trail foot, so i sent them back, guess what Dexter replaced them, sent me a brand new pair of 5's last night.

for the record they looked very good condtion wise when i sent them back.  I wlll wait to pass judgement on the tour ultras i am wearing now, they seem to wear pretty good, have had them in service since the first of april so not really enough time to get a good feel for them yet

I went thru a pair of SST 6's and 2 pairs of SST 6 LX's within 2 years.. All 3 came apart at the tip after about a month..
Swore never to get another SST 6 or SST 6 LX.. Actually swore never to try Dexter again..

Well, was trying to get a hold of a pair of ABS Tour Ultra's, but came across a good deal on a pair of SST 7's.. So crossed my fingers and went for it..
They have yet to tear on me.. Had 'em for about 4 months.. No signs of tear at all.. And they're quite comfortable too..

WOW...I must be heavy on my feet!

I tore thru both my Dexter SST5s pairs after 1 year and 1/2 on the trail foot!
Now that I know how great they are for service instead of tossing them in the dumpster...I wish I had sent them back to Dexter!

I now have another pair of Dexter but the SST6s and anticipate that if they last 1 year and 1/2 I will be shocked...however I bowl better with them than I did with my Sport Deluxe Dynorooz...which I thought might last 7 years.

I have a post with all the details on why I like Dexter for bowling and Dynorooz for durability and looks!

REgards,

PS tomorrow I go to a leather guy shoe repair to see if the bowling problem I have with Dynorooz can be fixed!  Removing border of sole pad without possibly destroying shoe!  I'll update.

my only problem is that i wore out the front of the sole. I sent it back and got a new one in a week. Other than that, i dont have any problems with my 6 LXs at all.

Not a problem, but a question...

I'm looking at getting either SST 5 Sport or SST 5 LX's. Question is are they running close to size as with other shoes ? Regular shoes or other Dexter shoes ? No place close to try on any and I have one foot almost a half size longer and the other a bit wider , so fitting shoes of any type is always a trick for me.

Just wondering if 10's are 10's in regular size shoes or do they run smaller/larger in the sizes ?

Thanks

azguy...

I recently picked up a pair of SST6 LX and was glad I chose to get them through the local pro shop.

I would have normally bought a size 9.5 and would have gotten a pair that was a half size to big for my feet had I purchased them online.

For me a size 9 was a perfect fit, even though most of my shoes are size 9.5.

Thanks J Mac, that's what I was looking for. Local shop is closed, and I'm doing the rest, just don't sell many shoes, much less SST's...

Thanks for the info.
