Dexter SST 5 sport bowling shoes
« on: November 20, 2008, 05:07:19 AM »
Hello all, my oldest son wants a new pair of bowling shoes for Christmas and he saw these on Ebay. They look like tennis shoes. Has anyone owned them and how are they? Don't want to buy bad shoes. Thanks, cooksey

Just go rid of my pair this year.  Had them for 4 years and never had any trouble.  Finally wore them out after bowling 3 times a week plus tourneys.

I have a pair and (still) love them. I have had my pair for more than 3 years now, and except for some flimsy shoe lacer holders (2 of them ripped apart easily, brought them to a shoemaker and got them repaired for very small money), they are IMHO very good shoes.

I settled on them because I have long and slender feet, and tend to walk on the broad soles of many other shoes designs in my approach. The SST 5 Sports, with their sneaker design, were the only option with interchangeable soles at that time, and I hope they keep on holding up well.

Only thing I found is that the newer sole replacements (esp. S6 soles) do not stick so well to the SST5's velcro soles - could be that the new soles usea finer mesh, for the SST7+ shoes, but I am not sure about it.

I have had 4 pairs of these in 2 years. The white ones were good and lasted maybe 6-8 months but the black ones are junk. The white one i replaced just from wear and tear and i figured i would get the black ones. Mistake.  I bought them on 11/07 and were replace on 2/08. Now its 12/08 and once again there gone for warrenty. Tongue of shoe ripped off of shoe, lace holds ripping away from shoe and then the bottom of slide foot has become 2 peices. If you dont bowl must go for it,but if you want a pair to last stay away from the sst5 sports

Becareful i have had 4 pairs in the last 4 years. the white color holds up pthe best. Had 2 pairs of those and they just got dirty so i bought new ones but i have had 2 pairs of the black ones not so good . Bought 1 pair on 11/2007 and were replace on 2/2008. Now it 12/2008 and they are being replace again. Bottom of slide foot turned into 2 peices and shoe lace eye hold were they attach coming undone. Very comfortable shoe but if you bowl ablot dont bother. Dexter is sending me sst 5 LX's
