Powerlifts

How much to the span do powerlifts create compared to the ovals? I'm guessing around 1/16 or 1/32. What do you think?

I am with leftyinhawaii - same drilling (span/pitches) for both Ovals and Power Lifts. The Power Lifts just give players who cannot bend their first finger joints that much a little more hold than the conventional Ovals. But this does not touch the basic drilling of the ball, and if you use Vise inserts, they have one side Oval and the other with the Power Lift "ramp".

You might try both sides in a pro shop before they are finally glued into the ball to test the best fit and if it takes some changes for you (every hand is different, though).

The question is easy to answer..

Measure it.

If memory serves me right...most ovals in MY size are about a 3/16 lip versus powerlifts in the same size are about 1/4.  I assume the difference is the same across most sizes.

HOWEVER...for ME....the difference in BOTH span and final pitch is significant.  AS I have just shortenened my span by 1/16 of an inch and weakened my pitch by 1/4 of an inch.  Drop!

For others it would not be as significant.  They say I have a rubber hand!  Stretchy!

Agreed..  I always measure the thickness of the grips... usually for smaller sizes, 1/4" for the lifts.. for the larger sizes, they are closer to 3/16"

Also, the lift grips add 1/4 inch forward pitch which will make the span feel longer for many bowlers.
