Ron'S Magic Carpet VS Velcro Tape
« on: December 20, 2007, 06:43:35 PM »
Well...

I have a little problem... though Ron's Carpet is very good for me and it tought me and helped me to get a clean release the tapes decompose rather quickly and the time scale of 3 month I read somewhere is realistic.

But with the shipping to Germany(here) and price 10 tapes cost me $22 /roughly as far as I remember/ ... and that seemed too expensive to me atm.

So I tried original VELCRO tape which is broader, thinner and harder than Ron's tapes. But it works.
Only drawback... those Velcor tapes decompose even much quicker.... 10 games with my ball and I can switch the tape (which is less or more expensive than Ron's stuff)

Conclusion:

Velcor tapes are not a sufficient substitute for the Original!

... ordering and drinking less beer

Mine is thinner....

It seems toe be industrial as I bought it off a shop building packages and stuff for music instruments and they use velcro tape as it seems and also sell the stuff by lenght (as long as you need it)

However it degrades and decomposes very fast... maybe there is another Velcro out there... I haven't found it yet.

Grayson,
I have some luck using velvet upholstery material. Just scap pieces and heavy duty double sided carpet tape (I use 3M).
It's definitely more economical and do not have to care how long it last.
