Title: Tape not sticking to slug
Post by: Waldorf Salad on March 01, 2006, 03:21:58 PM
Anyone else have a problem of the tape not staying in the back of the thumb slug???  I use the regular black AMF Bowlers Tape in the back of my thumb and I have a ball that the tape just wont stay put.  It keeps wanting to slide out over time.  About five years ago I had a ball that did the same thing.  Normally I don't have this problem.  I've been reading about thumb slugs being made of urethane or vinyl... could that make a difference??

that happened to me with my xception, but the same brand tape from the same box worked fine in my orignal inferno, that always confused me.

I used to use the Columbia Pro Grip black tape, but it seemed too flimsy and I've had issues using the Master black tape (it was a pain to get out).  My driller has always used VISE thumb slugs and I've also switched to the VISE tape.  The VISE tape is easy to apply, easy to remove, and in the case of the black tape, is very smooth which complements their slugs nicely and the edges don't bunch up when inserting my thumb.

The old version of bowlers tape black was great, it was shiny.  This new stuff that there putting out is pretty bad, its so sticky that you can't get it out.  I recommend vise black tape, its the same as the old bowlers tape.
