Break-in tips for replacement soles

Ok, I have tried to avoid asking such a simple qustion, but it's either this or injury on the lanes, so....

 

The main slide soles I've used n my trusty 3G's for many years (great shoes) are flat out worn out and slide capabilities are all pretty minimal. I ordered a #2 cream sole and started breaking it in 4 weeks ago. Prblem is, I can't get it broken in and am killing myself on the approach.There is absolutely no slide at all. I've scuffed, used cigarette ashes, powder (away from the lanes on carpet), etc.. All the old tricks, but bad news on all fronts. The replacement sole is absolutely useless.

 

I need some tips on break-in or another replacement sole source.... Anybody?

Have you tried going with the discs yet?

 

they have felt and teflon both.

 

or pickup a felt slide sole from buddies for the 3g my cream sole never did slide enough for me

Back when I had dexters I would break in new soles by putting them on the shoes then wearing them around the house for a few days and it will normally smooth out.
